I love making logos for games! I always try to design logos that are simple but cartoony, shiny and fun! Sometimes they're a bit scrappy and made in a rush (for a game jam for example)! I've made so many in the past MANY YEARS in games, from board games to mobile games! #gamedev

A couple years ago, I was doing this game completely off the computer as a mental health exercise, so there are no documents, only sketches and a couple 🎲✂️ paper prototypes (which I have...misplaced) #boardgames
When you look on Pinterest for inspiration for the look of a game, and find your own concept sketches for that same game from years ago that kinda fit what you need #gamedev

I often mockup 🎲✂️boardgame/videogame ideas with Emojis, quick and silly.
I'm torn on reading the manga or not... the anime is so gorgeous and well-directed, while the books seem super messy!

Considering my options: - design for players, not designers - clear hook + clear goals/paths - visual value on fun things - there's no fun without function (lol) - pretend trailers/sell sheet -> validate or maybe - learn programming you silly goose
I make quick assets with a layout tool (dextrous.com.au) and a linked spreadsheet, then import the result in screentop to play with the cards on a virtual tabletop. Dextrous can export print files as well, for when i'm confident enough to bring it to prototype testing events!
I've been making paper prototypes for ages, I still think it will stay my first go-to method to jam out something real fast!
Absolute truth (that I sometimes forget)
Imo: In commercial tabletop game design, there are innumerable paths to failure for every one path to success. But to create, it’s often helpful to ignore this fact temporarily.
Marvel Champions does this in so many different ways, I didn't know it had a name! Invented state is a great name for it
I used an old idea of mine to test that prototyping method, a simple solo card game without much of a theme for now. Just by playing and iterating (like 30+ times), the game evolves so fast! 🎲✂️
Made a first board game prototype in screentop.gg - took a bit of effort to figure out, but now i have a game that is very fast to iterate on and test by myself - and eventually playtest with others!

I'd love to meet more game designers in Toronto, to talk about projects and share insights! I don't do a lot of networking events, as they take a lot energy, but I'll try to do more, like prototype testing events and such!
