It’ll be interesting to see if this kind of behavior spreads and starts to draw the attention of antitrust enforcers, as incumbents seek to leverage their dominance in their core product to create an advantage in AI enterprise search. readwise.io/reader/share...
Area Man (@dtrain.bsky.social)
This is patently not about data security. It’s a cynical move by Slack and Salesforce to build a moat around their (extremely valuable) data to prevent AI enterprise search tools like Glean from delivering genuinely useful products, in favor of Slack’s more limited proprietary AI search offering.
Area Man (@dtrain.bsky.social) reply parent
I think it’s the right move for now, given their positioning. And I’m not sure how important it will ever be that they have their own leading edge proprietary models, except for stuff they want to run locally

My take on the Apple Intelligence announcements at #WWDC: AAPL remains way behind in generative AI, so they’re leaning more heavily into “conventional” AI and ML features running under the hood, while unabashedly delegating more and more of the LLM and image gen stuff to ChatGPT
