This does not break my heart. Those student admission slots should not go to the highest bidder. Columbia can stop giant-sizing its endowment and use more funds for financial aid for US applicants’ financial aid.

I’m just about to send the second off to college. I can feel the anxiety level rising. I’m trying to remember that the work of modeling a happy adulthood (and now a happy retirement while watching over them from afar) goes on. Lots to do to make sure nothing I do becomes a burden on them.
