In my main ttrpg group, we address this partly by swapping referees every 2-6 months, changing genres, settings, rules regularly.
English language and literature, schools oracy programs, public speaking and debating, TTrpgs, burgers. These are my main areas of expertise. Grocerybro.

You're saying one ruleset doesn't fit all, different players like different levels of agency. I'd say we are at least in the position of having (if anything) an embarrassment of rich rulesets with high levels of agency, where before there were fewer adventures and systems of that nature.

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay is a very different take on the setting, a gritty cthulhu -esque detective ttrpg. I can't see the original post but the original 1e and recently reprinted 4e ttrpg are quite different from the Wargame stuff.

Judgements go one way then another way all the time. As you well know. A Tory run council trying to create difficulty for a Labour govt isn't new. The term you're looking for is 'lawfare'.

How would inheritance tax affect this? It's not clear that you're talking about anything related to his suggestion. And who's 'they'? I don't think any political party is proposing this tax, despite its merits.

You send police in to manage graffiti and fare dodging in Humvees with riot armour and assault weapons. But you send forest fire fighters in with a bandana and an axe. Strange country.

My guess is no, they probably want to burn the hotel down and murder a few immigrants. But they'll maybe settle for mass immediate deportation of brown people without due process. Merely a temporary halt in this particular hotel, leaving current numbers intact? No, they won't be satisfied.

Stop being a jerk, they're stupid framed questions to defend and deflect your irresponsible use of the term 'mob rule'.

... Better, and better defended by councils and our current political and commentator class? Yes, I'm sure we both do.
Eddie Dolan (@eddiedolan.bsky.social) reply parent
That isn't the standard for mob rule. You're moving the goalposts. A council responding (if that's what they're doing, neither of us know for sure) to a public protest is hardly unknown. There are lots of mobs and lots of court cases. Some go their way. Do we both wish UK asylum processes were...
Eddie Dolan (@eddiedolan.bsky.social) reply parent
No. They're unanswerable and you're frothing again. Use language responsibly and don't get arsey with me, professor.
Eddie Dolan (@eddiedolan.bsky.social) reply parent
These questions are addressed in the article. It is a legal process initiated by the local council. You might not like the vibe of the decision, but labelling it mob rule is the flip side of the right wing frothers rejecting the jury trial outcome of the councillor as 'two tier justice'.
Eddie Dolan (@eddiedolan.bsky.social) reply parent
It's not mob rule, it's a temporary court order following a planning challenge.

Ok, so it's largely fiction presented as 'true memoirs'. Does that matter for the actual book itself? Many many books do this. Embezzlement- well, that can be addressed in the real world through legal means. That's really, not a book.
