62% of Americans now support arming Ukraine — the highest in nearly 2 years. The surge comes largely from increased backing among Republicans and Independents. In today’s divided America, helping Ukraine might be one of the few things most people can actually agree on.

Oh: so you know that USCCB letter challenging the GOP-led budget bill? It appears a group of Catholic bishops — including the Archbishop of Washington — wrote there *own* letter w/many other faith leaders that's MORE critical and straight-up asks Senators to vote against it. This is very unusual!

US Senate Washington, DC 20510 Dear Senator: We, the undersigned faith leaders, write to ask for your opposition to HR 1, the budget reconciliation legislation currently being considered by the US Senate. We believe that the changes made by the US Senate to the legislation are insufficient and do not significantly mitigate its adverse effects. First, it provides tens of billions of dollars to the government to undertake a mass deportation campaign which will separate US families, harm US-citizen and immigrant children, and sow chaos in local communities. It will spur immigration raids across the nation, harming hard-working immigrant families essential to our economy and causing widespread unrest like we recently witnessed in Los Angeles. This funding also will be used to target faith communities, as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has removed places of worship from its sensitive locations list, allowing ICE agents to enter them for enforcement purposes. We have already witnessed a reduction in attendance at many of our religious services in our denominations, as the threat of enforcement has deterred many families from practicing their faith. Moreover, the bill provides funding for a border wall along the US-Mexico border which we believe will drive migrants into the most remote regions of the border and lead to an increase in migrant deaths. It also would hurt the local environment along the border and force desperate asylum-seekers seeking satety to increasingly rely on human smugglers. As you should know, our faith organizations have long favored the creation of legal avenues for migration and a legalization program for immigrants who have lived in the US for years and contributed their hard work to our economy. We believe the adoption of these policies, instead of the implementation of a mass deportation campaign, would not only benefit immigrant workers and their families, but be in the best interest of our nation. If you live in Ohio, please contact Governor Dewine's office and urge him to veto the provision that restricts access to library materials. Please also share this to ensure that the word gets out. #Libraries members.olc.org/news/Details...

I'd vacillate endlessly on most of these... and am surprised I have some sort of block over the last decade.

Who ARE these goons?... that's the big question. Stephen Miller has obviously been recruiting white supremacists for years. From the military, which they have been infiltrating since Clinton, probably from the Proud Boys & Patriot Front & other nazi groups. That explains their zeal... & cruelty.

The problem with post-fact/post-truth politics & media is that money and power deliver vast capabilities for distraction and cover to hide from many facts and truths-- but some are just too immense and glaring to hide.

And all this happened before Trump could get aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln with a MISSION ACCOMPLISHED banner... it must seem so unfair.

Waiting for news outlets and reporters to acknowledge that maybe, just maybe, reporting Trump's social media posts on foreign policy without confirmation is deeply irresponsible and an embarrassing failure of journalism.

When you think about it, his election was a bit like Max Miller's. Max Miller really only sailed through re-election because he got a fantasy three-way race with Kucinich who sucked all the air and money out of Democrats. Burke wouldn't have won in a typical two way race.

He just won his spot with less than 1% in a unique easier-to-win three way split race. His campaign was had that aggrieved tone that resonates with the Trumpy: fox8.com/news/i-team/...

He just got elected in Rocky River, normally a somewhat sleepy spot, but is already making pitches to run against Justice Brunner.

It’s hard to overstate how jarring the abject state of the New York Times is for someone who grew up in a journalistic family, where it was regarded as (by no means perfect but yet) something like the gold standard for print news

Donald Trump just unilaterally bombed Iran. A masked gang is terrorizing our streets. America has rapidly devolved into an authoritarian state. That's why, today, The Onion has purchased a full page ad in today's New York Times with a simple plea to Congress: Sit back and do absolutely nothing.

An Onion front page with the headline: Congress, Now More Than Ever, Our Nation Needs Your Cowardice Who will stand up for our democracy? This question, fraught in even the most peaceful times, has only grown more pressing as our country approaches its 250th anniversary. Each passing day brings growing assaults on essential liberties like freedom of speech and due process. Meanwhile, our delicately assembled legal system faces a constant barrage of threats. Even as this issue reaches publication, the U.S. military has been deployed against peaceful protesters. We teeter on the brink of collapse into an authoritarian state. That is why, today, The Onion calls upon our lawmakers to sit back and do absolutely nothing. Members of Congress, now more than ever, our nation desperately needs your cowardice. Our republic is a birthright, an exceedingly rare treasure passed down from generation to generation of Americans. It was gained through hard years of bloody resistance and can too easily be lost. Our Founding Fathers, in their abundant wisdom, understood that all it would take was men and women of little courage sitting in the corridors of power and taking zero action as this precious inheritance was stripped away—and that is where we have finally arrived. Now is not the time for bravery or valor! This is the time for protecting your own hide and lining your pocket. Now is not the time for listening to your idiotic constituents drone on about what’s happening to their precious democracy. This is the time for getting down on all fours and grov- eling. Now is not the time to say, “Enough is enough,” and have the tough conversations about resisting the ongoing assaults on American liberty. This is the time to let the wave of apathy and indifference roll over you as you think about getting a really nice renovation to your house in Kalorama. But what can I, one coward, do alone? you might ask.

I give it less than a week before stories gain legs about hidden uranium processing facilities and centrifuges and how more must be done, etc, etc... US reporting ignores the IAEA. Nobody recalls Hans Blix and Iraq. The NY Times already teases with speculation about more centrifuges.

As it is an essential characteristic of Trump, it should come as no surprise that he lied and misled all his voters when he promised to end all the "forever wars." All it took was the embarrassment of a lamely attended parade, declining polling, and prodding from the criminally charged Netanyahu.
