The administration's push to make our public history all flowers and rainbows (oops! not rainbows--okay flowers and puppy dogs) is silly. Without acknowledging the dark, we can't celebrate the light. Without understanding where we went wrong, we can't take pride in righting it.
Cracker Barrel rolls out a new logo and drops like a stone on the stock market. What is wrong with us? Are we that afraid of change if it involves doing away with "olde timey" images? It's a logo for goodness sake!
The University of Georgia has removed sexual orientation, gender identity and pregnancy from its non-discrimination protected classes. This sort of over-compliance makes me suspect that some never wanted to protect these people in the first place. Why are we so eagerly running backwards?
Actually, I know a couple of people, two in particular, whose hearts are good (they are both former students and I've known them several years). I agree with you for the most part, but there are exceptions that puzzle and grieve me.

Unfortunately, that will just play into their narrative. Demanding to know what agency they're with, that might make a difference, but cursing them isn't helping (no matter how satisfying it might be).

Insisting on splashing gold all over the "people's house" is in direct opposition to the founding vision, as anyone who knows anything about the Early Republic is aware of. Wake up folks! He is not the torch bearer of liberty and his American roots are exceedingly shallow.
It was a shot across the bow and it got a lot of press. That many people in the street disrupts the narrative that all of this is what "America" wants. We can use it to build up to something more (national strike anyone?).

I didn't hear Vance's speech, but I'd say that my ancestors fought in the Civil War but were on the wrong side and thus were actually traitors to what their ancestors had envisioned for this nation. I'd also point out that Trump has no ancestors that fought in the Civil War, Mr. Vance, so...

He simply doesn't like the look of them. The entire nation seems to be subject to his personal likes and dislikes. There is no notion of public interest if it doesn't line up with his own.

What??? It's true that my Dad didn't do well when sent to the hospital, but that isn't always the case. It should be up to the nurses and the families to make that call on the basis of what's best for the patient, not the insurer.

I love historic cooking. I worked at a historic site for a while and learned 18th century hearth cooking. It was great fun, although carrying 50 lbs of water on my shoulders was challenging.
