Who is profiting from this announcement? That might explain why it's being done. Even if the argument is improved efficiency or whatever catch phrase, the top reason will be to allow someone to cash in on our tax investments.

As a resident of a MD county that went for Trump +30 and not too far from Baltimore, these Red State/Blue State references miss the mark somewhat because, in MD, aside from the greater Baltimore/D.C. it's all R and with large maga factions. Interestingly our school board is not maga.
I live in a Trump +30 county. I think there are enough nearby people willing to take such risks to make it feasible from a personnel perspective. The challenge would be the coordination, logistical support, and secrecy necessary for success.
