No, actually, if they do it right, this is brilliant. I grew up around guns, and was taught gun safety at a very young age. As a result, I never did anything stupid with guns. SO MANY accidental gun deaths and injuries happen because a little kid gets ahold of a gun and does something stupid with

Yeah THAT is super common, unfortunately. Losing weight can indeed alleviate a lot of problems, but most people can't just lose weight, and it's not an excuse to refuse other tests. (I changed doctors over a similar issue)
I can think of VERY few places around here where commenting on a patient or customer's weight without it being relevant wouldn't get you fired or at least reprimanded.
I have two things that help me with this sort of situation. One is anxiety meds. The other is policy armor. "I have to, it's policy, and if I don't follow it, I lose my job," gets most people to shut up about it real fast.
