I live and die by Google Calendar. And the 15 minute "get ready to go" event I put before all actual events. Very important element. And if its a really super important event I also lie to myself and set the event about 10-20 minutes before its actually supposed to happen.
one thing that helped me was to set a big annoying alarm to go off about 15 mins before the thing. Then my brain can go "ahh I don't need to actively worry about remembering, I know this alarm has got me" it might take a few tries before your brain has "proof" it'll work. Worth a shot?
