It’s also not accurate to frame this as ā€œcensorshipā€ if there is no original content getting censored. But it is ironic that this has brought a lot more attention to Howard’s criticisms of VP. Plus, whether VP is technically in the ā€œrightā€ on this one issue, it makes him look small.

Did you actually see his original channel? It was nothing but reuploads of long clips from other channels. No commentary. >99% of the channel was reposting other people’s content. Howard does important work, and i get why this feels unjust, but his YT channel was definitely not fair use.

Our school district was fully remote for 11 months, and half remote for another 3. Others were remote for longer. While I wouldn’t call remote school the same as ā€œmissingā€ā€™school for a HS student, for our 6 year old it was awfully close to that.

I don’t think they do know. I think the way in which they experienced the pandemic and the years of interactions with people who praised their contrarian mindset has biased them to the point that they honestly think they are doing good, and that history will vindicate them.

Plus, whether he is now a federal employee is irrelevant because the content was created prior to this. If VP's videos were created as a part of his current job within the federal govt, in most cases that would actually be considered public domain by law and copyright would no longer apply.

The whole point is that Howard's original channel didn't express a viewpoint. It was just reuploads of other people's content without original commentary. There's no censorship if there's no original speech there to be censored!

I totally agree with that. I'm sure VP doesn't actually care about the copyright issue - it's just an easy way to punch back. It's obviously much faster & easier to click a "Agree with copyright violation" checkbox than it is to counter a well constructed argument.

As I noted to Howard directly, a copyright holder is not obligated to be consistent in pursuing the enforcement of their copyright. One can consider it to be akin to selective free licensing of the content. Also, YT makes removal of infringing content unusually easy. Other platforms not so much.

The way YT's copyright system works is the site automatically seeks out content reuploads & flags them for the original content creator as poss copyright violations. It's not that YT/Google went along w VP's request, but rather VP agreed w YT's assessment that Howard's channel was in violation.

No. "Entire video" refers to the reuploaded video, not the original. So if Prasad's original video is 20 min, and someone reuploaded an otherwise unedited 4 min clip w/o any additional commentary, "entire video" would be the correct designation when reporting (or confirming) a copyright violation.

Military rule is not a fucking stunt. Get real. The president is burning our constitutional order down and Democrats are shrugging it off. This isn’t an opposition party, it’s a group of incompetents. Everyone should just move aside and let @aoc.bsky.social and @raskin.house.gov run the show.

Hey @cnn.com, this is *not* a "crime crackdown"! It's an unlawful military takeover. Don't let fascists define the framing of this moment.

This is just the same phenomenon as when RFK fired all 17 members of the ACIP: The incompetent idiots in charge fire experts when their assessments & recommendations contradict the politically favorable story. And the nation is left that much worse off. www.bbc.com/news/article...

This is horrifically unethical, egregiously immoral, and likely quite illegal. Any institution which complies should be boycotted by patients and blacklisted by healthcare professionals seeking employment.

100% agree for toxic, attention-seeking people who are looking for power. Unfortunately, some toxic people already have power and ignoring them can be dangerous.
