This is sad to hear. We too have rats but they are quite afraid to venture out into the veggie garden as we also have racoons, cats, hawks, owls and skunks who all love a good juicy rat. The rats feast on our compost bin area but get picked off when they venture far from home.

My Cyclamen purpurescens is now blooming and casting it delicate sweet fragrance aloft for humans and wandering bumblebees to intoxicate! Coum blooms in Jan - March here and hederafolium blooms in the fall! 🌱 #PNWGardening #gardening
Yes! It is the very fragrant one. It blooms in the summer. It is winter hardy here in Tigard. It does like marble chips around its feet as it grows in limestone rock in its native haunts. I will post a current photo of mine blooming now
