I've been listening to a book about fantasy writing (always read/listen to books to improve storytelling) and this book emphasized that point. Readers (Players) want to be surprised, and want to uncover/deduce the secrets. So let them. Knowing (As DM) what to omit is a way to give agency.

I thought anti-democratic was actually closer to "a small group of people that believe they are SO right, no matter the consensus of thousands of experienced individuals that had direct contact or access to the material in question, and then forcing their views on others."
