I’m wondering what you think of orgs like Indivisible or Swing Left. It seems like they are somewhat passive in there efforts, lots of small rallies, letter and postcard writing, phone banks. This doesn’t seem fast enough too me.

Since they found a bolt-action rifle, which are used for hunting, maybe this person had a lot of practice so that they could hunt deer.
Stuff like this is exactly why I don’t follow Klein on bluesky. Used to respect him. Haven’t respected him for quite a while.

I get random replies to replies on facebook lately from men who appear to be in the military or are widowers. They are posts like this: “I just noticed you here on facebook, can you friend me….. etc.” Also friend requests. I just block and report. And I am over 65 yoa.

I was a peacekeeper at my local #NoKings rally in Dublin, CA yesterday. Our protesters were lined up on Dublin Blvd waving signs, but there was an exit out of a parking lot that was often blocked by them. I become traffic control, stopping people from crossing to let cars out. Got thanked a lot!

My Dad turned 93 this past Sunday. He’s not in the best of health, but we had a nice phone conversation. And he’s still posting Anti-Trump memes on facebook!
Start of the rally at City Hall in San Ramon, CA. Protesters lined the streets and cars started honking their horns almost right away.
The only reason I stay there is that my family is there. And some friends from high school, who have finally found their political voices. On bluesky, I’m mainly here to follow journalists and political folks. It’s not a place where normal social stuff happens. So far.

I spent a few minutes today downloading pdf’s of my 3 whole publications I’m one of the author’s on so that I at least have a copy of them for myself.

I just did a pubmed search, and if your the Jennifer Goff that is doing research on microbes in waste streams, your papers are still there. I’m researcher working in diagnostics for industry, and I’m worried that NCBI and Pubmed will also disappear. Hang in there!

Hip X-ray showed I might have a pelvic mass where my uterus should be, but since I had a hysterectomy last year that was a bit weird. CT scan showed that I did NOT have a pelvic mass. It did confirm that I have arthritis in my sacroiliac joint, however. Hence the lower back pain.

I just got an Apple Watch, and the move ring can be annoying. Especially while I was recovering from a spell of vertigo. Standing once an hour for no reason is not something you do. Otherwise, I like the Apple Watch better than my Fitbit so far.
I’ve also unsubscribed, for now, too many emails. When there are more posts from others besides Jen Rubin, I will reconsider. I like Jen Rubin, and I follow her on Bluesky. But I can only take her in small doses. The Contrarian needs to have a better balance of commentators, I hope that happens.

Reminds me of the time my XH and I got stuck in a blizzard in Tahoe City, CA. Ski resorts were shut down due to high winds. The power went out, but we heard that Rosie’s Cafe was serving drinks and beer so we headed over. Eventually the fired up the grill and served everyone hamburgers.
