Definitely. I wonder if it’s mot so much cultural as just more common where beaches have entrances, like the ones pictured, & people used to that also leave their shoes at the edge of the sand when they’re at beaches that don’t really have entrances.
I just meant locally; I’ve been going to 2 of these beaches for 60 years. They’re in immigrant communities, but the recent immigrants are from different places than those here in my childhood & early adulthood. That makes me wonder if shoe-leaving is more common in some cultures than others
Interesting, because I mostly go to urban beaches that don’t really have entrances, but a sidewalk or paved walkway running parallel to the shoreline. But when I’ve seen shoes people have shed before stepping on the sand, they’ve been along the edge of the walkway
