When Thatcher was elected, the total national debt was £90bn. When she left office, having benefitted from peak North Sea oil revenue, it was £155bn. 45 years of neoliberalism, and the debt is £2.8tn. In other words, Keynesianism demonstrably worked, whereas neoliberalism has demonstrably failed.
