The fascinating thing about superheroes is how we put their virtues under a microscope. Do we want violence and vengeance, or noble, peace-loving protectors? Do we want heroes who uphold the status quo, or who fight for change and revolution?
Superman is refreshing because we’ve grown tired of the toxic impulses that studios and audiences and public figures have long mistaken for heroic masculinity.
Some of us stay on social media even though we don’t like it. Because there are certain people we only see online. People who would vanish from our lives otherwise. Intangible yet substantial people. And, of course, thirst traps.

The idea that you can't really know someone as long as you want something from them--I suppose it implies that knowing someone must be objective as knowing the truth. To assume you know someone because you love them is like assuming you understand the meaning of a painting because it's touched you.
I'm not sure I understand love without hope. Love is hope. Love is despair. Even if you don't want something from the object of your affection, chances are you still want something *for* them--to succeed, to be happy, etc.
I've sometimes looked at love as if it was a resource, like energy. To share it without some kind of reciprocation or reward can deplete you. And it's a decision we make in giving, although it doesn't always feel like one. It is active in giving and passive in receiving.

From what I've gathered, this film was punished at the Box Office because prior installments had been disappointing. The "Solo: A Star Wars Story" effect. Fans may forget that it had a poor showing eventually, but studios never forget.
Without spoiling much, it feels like each character began the film at their low point. It began at the end of the second act. Finding their way out gave some real catharsis.
Thunderbolts* was good. Nearly great. Heavier and darker than anticipated, but in service to the story.
Proof that poetic language is actually quite pragmatic.
