Yup, I grew up in the 60s and still love the music from that era. The, to me, quintesential song from back then will always be the Country Joe and the Fish song "The I Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag". "Don't ask me I don't give a damn the next stop is Viet Nam." Worth a listen...
Hailey our 11 yr. old tricolor rough collie. She has a very sly sense of humor and will do things like this just get you to look at her. I call it "Drapery Collie". lol

They want us scared and compliant so we'll be too busy just trying to have a roof over our heads and food to eat. I'd bet that all or most of them are vaccinated...

FWIW...the background design is a famous William Morris fabric and wallpaper design called "Willow Bough".
We're in a rural residential area a mile east of the airport here in Humboldt County. I've been through quite a few earthquakes, including the 6.9 "Pretty Big One" in the Bay Area back in 1989. Our house was built to withstand a serious earthquake. So things rocked and tinkled but no damage.
6.0 earthquake just a few minutes ago. No damage at our place but the epicenter is right on the coast.

Adventure Cat is closer than he realizes to a *real* adventure. Nah, I snatched him up right after I took this photo of Percy when he was a kitten.
We appear to have a winner! How are you these days? Come for a visit sometime. One acre, two collies, two cats, a garden...and sometimes we can hear the ocean.

So here's the whole set-up. We're still just getting wind, but there's been a bit of rain. The "bomb cyclone" is what's coming next starting around 7pm and it will go through the night. That's it in the radar map. We're at the blue dot.
"The Edge of Night"
So this is what's happening right now here in Humboldt County, CA. High winds and heavy rain on the way courtesy of what's known as a "bomb cyclone" that is currently scheduled to hit the coast around 7:30. Guessing it's 50/50 if the power goes out between some hours from now and tomorrow morning.

So this is the newest kid on the block, Percy my "foster fail" back when he was still a little guy. I fostered his mom and four siblings for a couple of months last December. And yes, he's really smart. Also gets along great with the collies. Often comes when I call him.

Back in December when Percy was just a little guy about 5 months old. And fearless even then. He's with Peregrin our six year old sable merle rough collie.
But wait! There's more...lol.
We have two. This one is 6 mo. old. I fostered the litter and became a "foster fail" lol. His name is Percy and he's my little grey tiger. He also finds interesting ways to sleep... The other, Michiko, is a tamed calico feral who is now 17. When she went deaf life became calm and relaxing.

Looks like a northern spotted owl to me. I remember back when putting the species on the endangered list triggered some really ugly backlash from the logging interests here in Humboldt County.

I had one when I was in elementary school. At one point I made a little collar and leash for it out of thread and pinned it to my sweater with a safety pin. Wore it to school. Classmates liked it, the teacher not so much.

Write for at least a short time every or most days. Find writing that you like and analyze why you like it and what you can learn from it. Don't worry about style, you can't help but create that as you go along. (I'm a fine artist who needs to be able to write about what I do, how and why)
White woman here. I assume that that was the goal. His hairstyle was just the excuse, of course. The policing of black students hair and clothing needs to stop.
Percy says "Hi!" He's our almost six month old "foster fail", the one we've kept after I fostered his mom and four siblings this past spring. Their eyes weren't even open when they arrived. Fostering kittens and puppies is a great way to have "pets" around but not permanently.
In the meantime shelters often are in need of fosters for kittens and puppies. Might be worth considering. I had a mom cat and her five kittens for a couple of months in the spring and loved it. One does risk becoming a "foster fail" though, lol. We kept a tabby boy and he's a hoot. All the best!

I fostered a mom cat and her five kittens this past spring and this little guy is now part of the herd, which includes two rough collies (that's Peregrin our 6 yr. old sable merle boy), a 17 yr. old calico female cat and now Percy, five months old, very smart & quite amusing.

Reminds me of a long ago Johnny Carson skit in which he does a send-up of a well-known at the time tv outdoors personality named Euel Gibson. Carson comes out in the flap hat, red plaid shirt etc. and stands next to a fake tree, saying "In the winter time I follow the squirrels and eat their nuts".

I recently fostered a mama cat and her five kittens. In what's called a "foster fail" in the rescue/shelter world we now have 4 mo. old Percy who quickly became best buddies with our 6 yr. old sable merle rough collie Peregrin. So here are "the boys".
