Shame he was such a crushing disappointment. He was handed a mandate for change not seen since the Great Depression and a supermajority in Congress with which to do it. He had a supermajority! His platform was Hope and Change! What change did he bring? For that matter, where's the hope?

The people in that photo sure are thin. Young people used to look like that, but they don't anymore. We embraced "body positivity" and terrible diets and now we have fat youths that don't have sex. There's a bunch of macro trends plus the advent of social media but holy crap did kids get fat.

This bill doesn't reduce healthcare spending, it just transfers it to you and I. And it does it in such a way as to magnify it. Rather than getting regular care through Medicaid they'll wait until they're horribly ill and spend 10-times as much through the Emergency care. And we'll pay for it.
gaius1.bsky.social (@gaius1.bsky.social) reply parent
Speak to the true costs: When millions of poor people lose Medicaid they won't just roll over and die. No, they'll go to the ER and rack up 6-figure bills that they cannot pay. Hospitals will raise rates on the rest of us. Hospital bills and health insurance will go up dramatically.
