I don't understand pricing. When I get my prescription for Atorvastatin filled, I pay a $15 copay and am told my insurance saved me $343. My PBM says the price is only $27.68 so my insurance saves me $12.68. And yet you sell it for $8.45. It's insane.

I think most people never have heard the term food insecurity and don’t know what it means. How about “affordable housing”? That’s a term used a lot in my field and it’s an absolute mess but was not one of the ones called out.
If I’m a politician, I’d certainly say something like “many families don’t know where their next meal is coming from…” but that’s different from saying people should never use the term.
I think that’s natural. A phrase like “the right to bear arms” also has multiple meanings depending on who you ask—handguns? Shotguns? Semi-automatic weapons.
If you are study the specific issue of poor people having access to food, or discussing policies to address it, “poor” doesn’t capture it.
Why the hate for “food insecurity”? It’s a concise term to define people who because of economic precariousness don’t know where their next meal is coming from. What’s an alternative term?

I understand it because I read too much political commentary from right wingers complaining about these terms! But elected officials and party leaders aren’t using them.
In professional contexts, people use terms that you don’t use when you’re talking about the football game down at the bar on a Saturday night. Might as well say “why do you say ‘multifamily’ when you mean apartments or condos” but in the planning field they are different things.
