I’m now 3 months into being unemployed, and scared to death that I won’t find something that pays even close. 19 years of gaining knowledge about an industry and company, and then it’s just… gone.
And what did my leadership get for making their team less valuable? All their jobs were cut, too. All the way up thru the Senior Director.
Improve their productivity, solve their problems, educate them. By the end, it was just-fix their problem ASAP, and if you can’t, send it to technology and move on.
But over the course of 2 years or so, our leadership had slowly changed morphed our team from a highly knowledgeable, impactful department into basically a call center. At one time we could make an actual difference for our internal customers.
I worked for a company for 19 years, and then my department was outsourced to contractors who we only had a few months to train. I really wonder how things are going. These people didn’t know the business or the company.
