Those that have wealth and power. A lot of folks who’ve fallen for this anti-DEI propaganda are beneficiaries of DEI, even if they don’t know it.
My head hurts. If they really want to invest in companies that hire based on merit, they want companies with properly-run DEI programs. So obviously the use of "Meritocracy" is pure Newspeak. The so-called "conservatives" are trying to redefine every aspect of language. So what are they conserving?

My wife got this perfect shot of the truck with the balloon. I found myself wondering if the balloon was made in China.
Counter protesters were few. This one lady was the only person I saw who actually went to the trouble of standing on the street. We had a few drive-by Trump flags, a John Deere mini truck with a giant Trump balloon on top, and one guy ranting incoherently.

It is my lane, as a US citizen, to say that Speaker Johnson should be removed from office, as Speaker and as a Member of Congress, immediately. This is conduct unbecoming. It used to matter.

I don’t think Alberta Garcia came back solely because of the court orders; something else happening there. And Congress may be speaking some truth, but the votes aren’t reflecting it. The most honest thing House Members have said is “I didn’t read the bill.”
I’m not convinced at this point that our Congress and courts are functioning. The courts are making mostly good, but seem to be unenforceable. And I can’t figure out what Congress is thinking. But I agree that this is the time to be fiercely peaceful, and not give them excuses to escalate.
We need to deny MAGA's co-opting of language and symbols. To deny a lawless President the ability to define "law and order." To deny those who would rip up the Constitution the right to call themselves "patriots." And we can't let them take ownership of our flag. It belongs to us all.
Today I was sitting in the library with my granddaughter, listening to her read to me, and reading to her, while my wife went out in the pouring rain to protest the Trump administration. She’s my hero.
