Nothing wrong with tactical voting in FPTP

Nothing wrong with tactical voting in FPTP

I feel unbelievably let down. Capped by Keir Starmer returning from the summer recess to be interviewed in front of some crap St George’s flag bunting on the fireplace. And in my view climate is the most important thing facing us. But the void he has created is not just us two. Zack might fill it.
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Maybe I shouldn’t be so sure. Just need to look across the pond. Maybe I’m naive in thinking we’re a little way off that
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
I’ve long said that if we had PR I’d vote Green. Not going to wait for that now
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Farage will never be PM though. Any Reform victory will be greeted on the Friday morning with “my work is done getting to this point and now it’s time for someone else to take it forward”. He’s not going to bother himself with all that accountability
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
I’m not sure they can do until the Charter is up for renewal, or something like that. A lot of things they haven’t (and have) done are odd.

The Rest is Politics. Alastair Campbell and Rory Stewart

He didn’t fare very well there though
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Just watched it again. It doesn’t get any worse with age. Not a good week for him with Zack bursting onto the scene too
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Did I just imagine that?
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
45 years ago. What a film! Difficult choice but I like If only b st

Suggesting a former Director of Public Prosecutions should know something about the law is quite the take. Even for The Telegraph. Anyone would think he conviction had nothing to do with him.
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
I think that used to be true. Save the lag is likely to be much less now
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
I’ve never got anywhere near pre lockdown. Sure 6 years older but a huge element is in my head
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Looks to nice to go haring round
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Unconventional way of spending time ‘reconnecting’ with her 12 year old daughter - as lauded by The Sun.
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Just follow everyone else!

Funny you should say that because I’ve just seen one. As high as they could get it on a really tall main road lamppost. So essentially erected half mast
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
With an altogether infinitely better person in the number 10 shirt. Until recently.
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
At least they’re not in your kit
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Madness as you say. I have sympathy with the police too being dragged into all this. Not as if they don’t have enough to contend with
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Happy to be wrong but I don’t see what law is being broken.
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
It was quite something else when we were there. And that was 10 years go
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
“It’s one idiot”. Apparently.
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Apparently not justifying the (non self-imposed) price tag at City despite being widely considered to have been instrumental in the treble season. What have the Romans ever done for us?
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
By way of context. I like him and glad he’ll be playing again
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Used to drive past there all the time when I was doing my house jobs. But before it was erected. Would have been a nice home coming

I had one too. Brilliant use of space
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Great time. You should get yourself on Parkrun
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
I hope a lot will depend on the outcome of the Green Party Leadership election. And how they message without mainstream media
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Grim
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Doesn’t take much to remind me of a deviation in a biology lesson when the teacher said our generation was too sensible to start a war. Stuck with me throughout my life. Massively wrong, but if you lose that optimism in the next generation you’re essentially fucked.
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
I think it’s exactly this
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Indeed. It was when they were in their “je suis Jyllands-Posten” phase. In fairness many Europeans couldn’t find Wisconsin on a map I guess. Or Namibia…
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
I remember a Dane saying at the time that a positive of the Charlie Hebdo affair was that the US would realise Denmark isn’t a city in Sweden. Clearly not.
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah, probably
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Starting outside Piccadilly Station is unsurprising, I expect largely outsiders. We’re (much) better than that. Hopefully no trouble, 115 charges hanging over the city is enough…
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
I didn’t. Dexamphetamine maybe
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
What I love most about it all is that they are as divorced as you can be from everything that goes with being Nordic. And they’re dishing them out.
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
I thought he should go for Physics. If Marie Curie could get it then anyone can.

Leftovers from a fussy eater dog supporting a whole ecosystem. Sadly not selected for Chris Packham’s Fox of the Day on the basis of this evidence.
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
And as far as words go hasn’t done Jill Scott any harm following another real moment. Not having to depend on her coffee shop, nice as it is.
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Not that many years ago there was only the Hilton tower block. Now a dozen and counting. Video nicely captures the old and new in Manchester
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Just a different skill set
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Our neighbours have a surviving one but H&S suggests best not spend too much time in it. Quite some leeway for those lads to be more careful without getting accused of H&S gone mad!
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Certainly not whilst strimming what’s holding it on
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
No ear protection
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
That’s less recognisable because of the cobbles. But the steep slopes down to the river in stages are unmistakable. Nearly 50 years since I lived there but I bet will have same feel now.
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Quite

I joined in 2019 so to influence the Leadership election because I needed to do something. I voted for Keir Starmer so I’m really disappointed. We’ve got a demonstration at a migrant hotel this afternoon. For some reason I’m on the counter demonstration mailing list. And something else is on at 5pm

He might need a GP appointment then if he saw the surgical setup in the hospital I worked in / would if need be operated in.
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
But might be evidence of it
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
It was all reeled off on the news followed by “but what he’ll be remembered for”…
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
I’ve literally switched over from the news and it was immediately 1-0
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Beautiful capture of a beautiful scene
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
But if a day tries too hard just let it have it.
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Dunno. But can you remind me which is the best fish and chip shop in Whitby. My son and daughter in law are on route
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
He’s not going to be buying anything soon from a pop up official merchandise store in St Peter’s Square then? I expect it’s a lot of money to look like a dick
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Took watching through fingers to a whole new level.
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
We had cat who we called Mars (after the chocolate bar rather than the planet). Similarly black and white and beautiful temperament. Sadly didn’t survive the traffic. Glad you had your Mars for longer.
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
I saw it that way. I just wish I could be that sure for something with such high stakes
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Howling. Though not necessarily physiologically accurate…

Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
How could they be anything but a success I guess
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
A uni mate I haven’t seen for 40 odd years stayed over after seeing him in Manchester on Wednesday. He came back and described somebody clearly struggling by the end of the concert.
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Buy her a cool mat. Ours loves his
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Equally grim
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
So grim
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Watch Live Aid and you’ll soon be counting your blessings. We were obviously very easily pleased
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
And a date for that, anyone might reasonably think, was before the fixture list came out
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
On a legal point of order there’s traditionally a guilty verdict before a punishment. Maybe if there were disembowelments on the centre circle the seats might fill up a bit more
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Never heard of them
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Not DVD this time? Only BluRay
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
And Bill Bailey at his best
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
I caught the first one by accident this series and was completely hooked. I would recommend it to anybody
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Did you catch the Extraordinary Portraits series?

In a nutshell, every word of that.

And can always be wheeled out for a constitutional opinion when a monarch dies. Stay safe in the heat.
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
My youngest described my not watching Charlie XcX as “probably for the best”. Just waiting for Heart of Gold and then will turn in
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
He’s just missed “Like a Hurricaine”
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Not least because that very weapon will likely have fired live rounds at some stage. It’s not a prop.
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
It could be worse. You could have Oasis tickets
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Brilliant song. Love how it progressively builds
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
We got the heads up and caught most of it live. Loved it. Albeit different golden years for me.
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Gosh. And I had been looking forward to the legends slot on Sunday
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
This looks early 80s. Got mine in 1987. Stolen once (and recovered) and second aborted theft. Came with “sunroof”. Great on the autobahns
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Might try it. Someone near us has an early 80s Ford Fiesta XR2. Haven’t seen one for years. Really takes me back
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Could do in a society that was functioning
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Wouldn’t that be the point for him to decide he has achieved what he wants and hand over to someone else to carry it forward? And take all the accountability?
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Both work but I much prefer #2. You need the 1-0 in and the time scored. Might not be that as the ball is struck but put that down to artistic licence.
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Looks familiar. Lived a few roads down on Atkinson Road for a while
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
You’d more than likely have been offered it at ours
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
But he has mooted exactly that at one point
Graham Horsman (@grahamhorsman.bsky.social) reply parent
Nice use of apostrophes, I’ll give her that. But that’s about it. To think what she could have been remembered for.
