Remember that McLaren tested Colton Herta several seasons ago, but nothing came of that test. They are still giving Pato FP1 seat time, and he is always close to the regular drivers.
The Leclerc-Russell incident looked like good hard racing to me. I don't think either driver was trying to cause the other driver to crash, they were simply arguing over the same piece of race track. I am afraid I would not be so confident if Max Verstappen was involved.
If a driver barges past another driver and violates the rules, they need to be told to give the place back within 1 lap, or that penalty becomes moot. I am also in favor of proportional penalties. If you run another car off track, and put that car out of the race, you should get a black flag.
When a stewards' explanation leaves even the driver puzzled, it is not a good look for the stewards. Communication needs to be one of their core skills. Drivers make decisions in races about what to do based on what they think will be acceptable to race stewards.

Part of the issue is that the series only lasts 6 months, which leaves teams having to fund a non-operational entity for 6 months a year, with the biggest race 2.5 months into the season.
People are insisting that to win in 2026, Democrats have to somehow appeal to Trump voters. This is bullshit. Biden won in 2020 because the Democratic base was motivated to get out and vote. The GOP never pisses on its base. It always says what they want to hear. The Democrats need to do the same.

Teams are struggling to find the funds to run full 2 car seasons in 2026. When a seemingly well-funded team like Prema is already hinting that it may not stay in the series, there is a fundamental economic issue.
It is going to be interesting to see how the 2026 team and driver situation evolves. The series is too expensive relative to team income, which is why many teams are seeking investment money. But without better future RoI, that only lasts for a while. Prema may be a cautionary story.
From what I keep reading, Herta is being paid a lot of money in Indycar. Andretti could use some of that money on the team.
