yeeeeup. really looking forward to my mortage refix in december, gonna drop back to minimum payments and use that extra to rebuild my cash savings instead. water heater replacement and vet bills cleaned me out and then some, and paying back my parents for the money I borrowed is keeping me thus!
greg (@gregdotexe.sufficientlyinteresting.com)
I did a good job keeping my expenses down this fortnight, but the $257 monthly bill for my parking spot has come along and ruined that. Usually I pay that out of savings, which I current have none of. :|

I think I was under the impression that they got minimum wage, but I think thats a default assumption rather than being specific to strippers. I certainly did know that their meaningful income comes from tips and (while I've never been) would never go without cash in hand

that's legitimately interesting and hopefully true. I think it would need to be handled carefully socially (and of course it won't be) because all these things have causes not entirely reliant on the chemical addition of the thing, but being able to break a physical addition would be revolutionary.
greg (@gregdotexe.sufficientlyinteresting.com) reply parent
now that would be revolutionary

ayup. and thats before we consider the latent fatphobia in our society and the big door this opens to social harm in that direction too. I'm not gonna place any blame on anyone taking it, right now these outcomes are speculation, but I'm deeply concerned about the amount that it is being pushed.
greg (@gregdotexe.sufficientlyinteresting.com) reply parent
exactly! and thats why I am very carefully not blaming anyone here. right now, it looks pretty good. but I am very worried that there is a devil in the details. and the ways in which it dovetails in with some pretty heavy fatphobia in society at large opens a big door for social harm too. :|
greg (@gregdotexe.sufficientlyinteresting.com) reply parent
I could be wrong. I'd be thrilled to be wrong. And I have absolutely no evidence for this. I still won't be seeking it out for myself though.
greg (@gregdotexe.sufficientlyinteresting.com)
I truly believe that ozempic will be one of those things that, with the benefit of hindsight, we concur caused far more enduring harm than was realised while they were being widely used. Just a gut feeling. I am pre-emptively putting it in the same class as lead and asbestos.

Council rates skyrocketed in 24/25 and 25/26 because the govt cancelled three waters. The govt then blamed councils for wasting money, when what they were doing was continuing to own, operate, maintain and upgrade the water assets the govt had cancelled the transfer of. This is surprisingly obvious.
