It'd help if management actually put up a sign or something, I know some places do, but strip club management is a whole other problem on its own lmao

I think I was under the impression that they got minimum wage, but I think thats a default assumption rather than being specific to strippers. I certainly did know that their meaningful income comes from tips and (while I've never been) would never go without cash in hand
Nah, in nz dancers aren't waged at all AFAIK - always tip cash if you can, as clubs take a cut of tipping dollars and house fees on dances are fucking robbery... 50% at calendar girls 🙃🙃
my reaction to both facts in this tweet is 'jesus christ'
They also tried to publicly shame their dancers into submission: www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...
They sure fuckin did! One of my instructors is a founding member and is just generally a amazing person, so fucking smart and driven and fighting for change
Strippers rock and must have unbreakable will, based on the fact we don't daily hear about one or more glassing a libertarian who wants to ramble on about "market forces" to them.
Holy shit by the way, have you played night shift? Boardgame designed by a stripper, set in a club, and is very fun 😂
I have not. I saw the Kickstarter etc and am glad to hear it's fun as I was rooting for it!
I have a copy! We should have a games night sometime 🎉
We absolutely should. Once we get a few more things set up Kathy and I have been considering dabbling in this "entertaining guests" thing we've heard about.
Yup!!! Fucking same, i knew the house fees on dances was rough but I hadn't like connected the dots mentally - CGs raising the fees from 40% is the event that spurred the creation of the fired up stilettos group, 19 dancers wrote a letter to management requesting a convo about that and were fired
The hustling is so fucking rough. The nights you come home having made exactly nothing and actually OWE money to the venue is.... just truly soul crushing. I literally do not have it in me to hustle anymore which is a huge detriment to every other aspect of my life.
Mermaids is like that, right? You actually can end up owing the house at the end of a shift?
It's like that everywhere. The brothel I worked at didn't have many fees but if you got a ride there and home you owed like 30. Which wasn't a lot but when you didn't have any jobs for the night, you're still in the red.
