Comedians breaking taboos with swearing or talking about sex or having nasty thoughts - people laugh because they were worried their thoughts / behaviour was wrong but now they realise everybody is like that and are incredibly relieved

Laughing is a signal that what you thought was dangerous is actually ok ie humour gives people permission to say, yes I was worried about that and I am glad you showed me it is okay. 1/n

I imagine the policy is designed to suppress EV uptake and increase Labor's attraction both to wealthy donors and to those who might mount advertising campaigns against Labor otherwise. I find running the "what's in it for me" ruler across Labor policy gives me a feeling of clearer understanding.

Australia is not run by imbeciles at all - many of the people in power are moderately intelligent. Many probably do see education as a public good but that would not factor into the decision making. I think the issue is the people in power seem to have one over-riding drive, "what's in it for me?"
