This is overdue, IMO. I smoked for over 25 years, and it's my strong opinion that there is zero need or reason to not avoid exposing children. It is easy enough to walk a bit and find a spot you're not around others who didn't choose to smoke, or to wait.
The guy wasn't even home. They set off explosives near a sleeping infant, and they didn't even bother to determine where their suspect was.
I dont think that's enough. You in Congress need to make your peers care. Find out what their stake in it is, and take out that leg. Bring their constituents that would be harmed to speak to it. Now is not the time to play "nice".

Sadly, I think you're correct. I can't think of an example of an executive/billionaire being held meaningfully accountable for obvious crimes and harm done in my entire lifetime, except when it involved stock fraud that harmed other ultra wealthy people (Madoff, f.ex.)

Agreed. Legislate that you must be a registered voter to contribute to any campaigns, and severely limit the funds any actual person can spend on influencing elections they can't vote in.
I think it'd be good in that it gives more options to consumers. That said, so long as we continue to allow for-profit financial services to act as gatekeepers to peoples' health we will continue to pay more than any other industrialized nation to receive the worst outcomes.

Medical insurance firms add no value. They are designed to do the opposite, in fact. Does't make care cheaper, more accessible, more effective, or more efficient. It's the only industry I know of that gets rewarded for going out of it's way to avoid providing the (financial) service they advertise.
