Prairies are interesting; not suitable for agriculture, maybe pastoral nomads, before steel. No real cover for anything bigger than a snake. Limited foraging, unless you eat grass. Surprisingly difficult to use, or even cross, a wide prairie with less than 18th century tech.
I have a druid circle that uses Awakened giant walruses. I just use elephant stats, and trample =slam.

Some areas are so saturated with magic it impacts spellcasting there. The Blue Marsh amplifies necromancy, the Dragonlands amplify Elemental magic, etc. Places near permanent planar gates behave a bit like the plane on the other side. Magic isn't contagious, but it bleeds into things.

That last point seems entirely correct! I wouldn't say distorted, though, just constrained by conditions. Even with a long-established crew, when we play a one-shot, I just push them right into the plot without extra faffing about (not British, did I use that correctly?).

G2 is one of my faves! Very tricky balancing campaigns past 12/13; at 15, I switched to milestone levels so we could get to 20 before everybody got bored. Only so many times you can save the world! 😂

For some of these folks, it's religious delusion- they think we're literally devil worshippers. The whole Q thing stems from that. For the rest, they've been conditioned to think of us as the enemy. We're not just wrong, we're actively attacking America to try to destroy it. All of this is insane.
A few printing presses exist, but they are magical, not nechanical, and found only in a few cities. Literacy levels aren't terrible, but it's marketplace math & markings, not prose. Books are uncommon and expensive (as are paper and ink).
