A beatdown in broad daylight was caught on video: Masked men in tactical vests grappled, tased, and piled onto a delivery worker. Pinning the worker face down on the pavement, agents tased him again and punched him repeatedly in the head.

One word ... Republicans
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
For honorably defending this country, they get NOTHING. Heartless bastards.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
How?
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Republicans are willing to spend to inflict maximum cruelty on those they dehumanize.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
They already have.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
What does take him down mean? As long as he and Republicans are in power at state and federal levels it continues. Absolute power corrupts.

Questions for Teachers For those of you who teach social studies... are you planning to change anything in your lessons about the constitution? The bill of rights? The Supreme Court? Checks and balances? Coequal branches? Church and state? I am genuinely curious.

This is a guy who said that the number of Covid cases wouldn't be so high if we simply stopped testing people.

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting is shutting down. Nobody's talking about that new tragedy.

But pedophiles deserve pardons... There.. I fixed that for you.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah let's see what really changes. No kings day was needed. In reality, though, it was just noise. MAGA has done most of what they came to do.

He wants to keep his job so he can't be prosecuted for being the criminal he is.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
We are powerless. There were a group of people that voted for this. They were supported by those who didn't vote. And we can't do a darn thing about it until election time. Don't forget, there is still a large group that support Republicans today.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
ICE = MAGA gestapo.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Supreme cruelty.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Yep. Republicans did everything they came to do. They are cruel. Vote them into the minority in '26.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Great... but it doesn't change a thing. They have an agenda. They are getting it done. The only way of halting/slowing down this shit show is winning back majorities in congress in '26. Everything else is noise.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Nasty is too soft. CRUEL.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
I get it .. but how does that change anything? We are all still powerless and will be until we get to vote in 2026. They've done most of what they came to do. Getting back the majority is the only way to stop them.

Food Pantry Support... now that the &%$^& bill has been passed, food pantries are going to be suffering. If you are able, please set aside $5, $10 or $20/week shop the sales, and donate that to a local pantry. See their website or call to find out what items they need.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Is anyone surprised? The watchword of Republicans is "cruelty". They don't care about disappearing people, they only care about due process when it can be used against someone. The court signs on to this philosophy.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Gee... then maybe the should refuse to do it. En masses.

Ice? Really? How about Republicans? They put this president in office, they elected this congress. They put in this Supreme Court. They refused to stop this Nazi bullshit. I blame ICE members for following those bullshit orders... but the orders are coming from their superiors.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
I understand that people use "lawless" to be inflammatory... but the law is what the Supreme Court says it is. So "lawless" doesn't apply. There are no challenges to their decisions. We the people are screwed.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
You write as if we have a functioning constitution. The Republicans in power only use it when it furthers their agenda. The Supreme Court backs this approach.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Why is anyone still on that site? I understand that journalists need to monitor the crap. But anyone else??????
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent

We learn when we get knocked down. He doesn't get beaten in any significant way. You could argue that this orange bag of shit has been wildly successful at avoiding consequences... he's made tons of money, has loads of power and is fairly wealthy.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
This is good. The party of Trump are just going to stand by and allow people to get sick and die from preventable things on their watch. Those effected have names, faces and stories that need to be told.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
An administration and party full of murderers. How many people died needlessly from its covid policies and lies.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
We can only claw back what we've lost if 2026 is a rout. Small margins in congress and at state levels won't do it. It will take at least a generation and a lot of new thinking.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
That have done what they came to do. Destroyed our institutions, the constitution, the courts and congress. Power and money for the sake of power and money.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Please do not underestimate the intelligence of the enemy nor its capacity for cruelty.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent

Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
What constitution? It's gone. The president has no limits on power. He is immune from prosecution. He throws enough shit at the wall and, voila, a lot of it sticks.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Am I mistaken? Don't 3rd parties usually hurt Democrats.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Ditto for all senators and congress people who voted for it, staffers and attorneys that wrote it. The cruelty of this large crowd and the people that voted them into office knows no bounds.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes. She is evil. But she is not the only senator that voted for this horrifically cruel bill. They all must be made to wear the scarlet letter.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
And every person that didn't vote. They allowed the unthinkable to happen.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
He said that he would fund the start of a new political party. Those have typically stolen votes from Democrats and helped Republicans.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
They. Don't. Care what you think. They are busy profiting off of our impotence. When the dust clears, they will have done what they came to do.. increase their money and consolidate their power. Then, if they lose their election, the can retire early.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Do you think they even care what you think? Money and power for the sake of money and power. Vote them out in a year, or two or three.. they still have time to increase their personal net worth in this shit storm. No big deal.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Power and money for power and money's sake. They get it at an absolute level for at least a few more years. That will be enough time for us to be completely trashed ... all to their gain ... Republicans and enabling Democrats alike.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes. And once they are kidnapped, nobody can find them. So was it a government sanctioned kidnapping, or did some other terrorist group do the job? Terrorists all.. only difference is who's paying.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
He's appointed for life. He can say whatever he wants. We can grumble about it. He can pretend that the rhetoric hurts. But he doesn't really care. Supermajority in the court, majority in congress, president. Everything else be damned.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
We have to stop calling it Trump's bill. Every republican in congress has to be made to wear this scarlet letter.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Why call it Trumps bill? Every republican asshole in the house voted for it. If it passes, it will be the same in the senate. It is their bill... the whole lot of them. They all need to be voted out. To do that, we have to blame them all.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Agreed. It's about power and money for the sake of power and money. That's why elected leaders don't care about popular opinion. If they have their way for the next few years at least, they, will have done what they came to do.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes but, what about state medicaid cuts? What about your decree that municipalities should be working harder to push homeless out? Where are your statements on the violence that LAPD committed against people without care for their welfare? You're a Dem that has a lot to answer for.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
My kids are grown too. No grandchildren either. But there are teenagers in high schools and older ones in colleges. They will discuss government based on a foundation of what they've learned in earlier ed. These people will be voting for what's next.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Kids will go back to school in a cpl of months. What will we tell our kids about the constitution, coequal branches, checks and balances? If we keep teaching it the same way we have been, we're lying.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
It's the latter.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent

Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent

Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
"When it comes time to vote" will be too late for so many that will be affected. It'll be an uphill climb to claw back what will have been lost. This bill must be defeated at all costs.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Why is nobody pressing the police chief, mayor, and governor to hold LAPD members accountable for beating, shoving to the ground, trampling within horses, and shooting citizens without a care for their well-being? Their silence makes them complicit.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
I am of retirement age. It time to replace the old with the new. AOC is the future of the party. New blood, New ideas will get the younger generations interested and involved.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social)
In a couple of months kids will go back to school. What will we be teaching them in Social Studies? Are we still going to tell them about the constitution, checks and balances? Co-equal branches? Are we going to teach them that we live in a democracy? What will we say about free speech?
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
They'd be gunned down and/or brutalized by the US gestapo.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Let's not forget those who didn't vote. They allowed it to happen.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
I wouldn't say he governs. That sound too contemplated. He makes shoot-from-the-hip rules based on what his people tell him. He's is clearly the president of his base and red states. The rest gets handled by DOJ.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
By definition he's the president, so nothing he does is illegal... Per the supreme Court.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
I would love to know how you're going to do that. We don't control of either house or the Supreme Court. I would love for it to happen. But get real people.. spineless people in congress.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Gee..,and it didn't make any difference. The bombs still dropped. When you have a mad man in control of the armed forces and nuclear codes, you might expect things like this. And the Supreme Court said he can do anything he wants with impunity.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
He needs to start taking his meds again. AND we need to replace his sorry ass.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Who is going to hold him accountable? He can't be prosecuted. Is the UN going to arrest him?
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent

What constitution? It has been sitting in a corner, tattered, unloved and disrespected since inauguration day. It only has meaning if people in power say it does. Nobody in power right now will lift a finger. Our elected representatives are shit.

Hasn't gotten to the Supreme Court yet.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
When do you go from "I don't think we're in a democracy..." to "we're not in a democracy..."? We've not been a democracy since inauguration day.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Just go back and watch the videos of LAPD trampling, beating and shooting its citizens. Since the mayor and governor have been quiet about that, we must assume they are complicit. Certainly not going to well to call them in to help.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Sure. I'm not surprised. Next they'll be arresting those who speak ill of these atrocities.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
63 votes in the senate for this. When do democrats in leadership start to be the opposition? We SHOULD NOT BE COOPERATING at all.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social)
The LA mayor lifted the curfew yesterday. What does she have to say about the recent brutality of her police force? Let's not forget videos of people being trampled and beaten by mounted police, being shot, pushed to the ground. All with no care for the victims afterward.

New York Times reports that the Senate passed a crypto currency bill with bipartisan support. 68 senators voted for it. How are the Dems still working with Republicans? Gee, I wonder who benefits from this bill?
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
How do we know they aren't. No uniforms, no id's, no warrants. Maybe they are just copycats who are actual criminal kidnappers as opposed to, you know, official Gestapo criminal..

Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
We keep seeing stuff like this from LAPD and other police departments. People trampled and beaten from mounted officers, push to the ground, shot for nothing g worse than trying to walk home. Where are the mayors, governors and even the police chiefs? Haven't heard anything from them.

How?

Two groups of people responsible: those who voted for the deplorables and those who didn't vote ‐ they allowed it to happen. Screw them. No sympathy.
Gripping-Intrigue (@gripping-intrigue.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah.. no. I'm trying to understand the real effect. We had a national unity day. We saw like minded people raise their voices. BUT how is today different? I saw a poll yesterday that said Republicans still think he's doing a dandy job. The basket of deplorables isn't going away.
