Turns out some of the “we want small government” people kiiiinda wanted the government to be just one guy.
I think they were mostly hyperbolizing because they are (understandably) freaked out by AI and its impacts on higher education. But it bugged me!!!
Writing is super important. I use it as a thinking tool and I think it is a very good thinking tool. But I found that particular way of expressing the usefulness of writing to be really annoying, mostly because of how obviously wrong it is!
I listened to a podcast this morning where they repeatedly said “you can’t think without writing” and just to nip that one in the bud… That’s wrong (there are many illiterate people and they all think) and also dumb (Socrates was famously both illiterate and had thoughts.)

Sometimes I have to do my therapy over Zoom and most of the reason I’m bummed out because my therapist’s office is so cute.

mRNA is great but it might be easier to create nasal versions of whole virus vaccines and I think nasal route is important both for (potentially) decreasing transmission and for increasing uptake from people skeeved out by needles.
