Could be a reasonable argument that USSS shouldn’t take the burden to cover her book tour, but can’t give much benefit of the doubt when he’s pulled protection for other political enemies like Bolton while he’s been actively facing threats

Yeah he didn’t make it public at the time, I think that’s only reported noe. Supposedly some sort of threat assessment didn’t uncover any major issues for her, but take that with a grain of salt from the current administration.

Biden extended it to a year so Trump did intervene to shorten it from that. Longer than the normal 6 months though. Could easily argue that Harris is at higher risk than the average VP at this point post-office, and the president publicly removing her secret service could increase that thread

The saffir-simpson scale is based on windspeed and is roughly based on structural damage associated with those sustained winds, similar to the scale used for tornadoes. This isn’t anything new and of course there can always be a stronger storm. But it can’t be a “cat 6” if a definition doesn’t exist
hatreviews.bsky.social (@hatreviews.bsky.social) reply parent
What are either of you talking about, the scale goes to category 5 and has always gone to category 5. The only real efforts there have been has been to better communicate the flood risk, given the scale is currently entirely based off wind speed despite water being the primary killer

But it’s impossible to say exactly where cat 6+ would start since the step up in category doesn’t follow a pattern and it ranges anywhere from 14 to 28mph. Like Hurricane Patricia would bee in the cat 7-9 range, but not really possible to say

That’s not driven by a climate change denialism agenda if that’s what you’re suggesting. Hurricanes that would probably earn a cat 6 (1932 and 1935) existed before the scale was created. And the scale predates modern political controversy on climate change

Reporting on the administration lying, and pushing that story to their social media, is not being complicit in fascism just because the words they used are too big. It’s a news article, if you want name-calling then read opinion pieces

Or read past sentence #3 before complaining about missing context

Be more responsible. There’s enough unreasonable attacks on the press from the far right. There can be legitimate criticism, but being unable to comprehend an article if it doesn’t start with a big gauge saying “Pants on Fire” is not it.

Do you people even read the article before commenting? Literally the *fourth* sentence: “The findings contradict past statements from Attorney General Pam Bondi about an alleged list of Epstein clients.” Then if your attention can last half a page, it elaborates:

Not sure what you’re trying to say. The climate activists want electric houses for climate reasons. The houses are going to need electricity no matter what so the comment on power line fire risk didn’t make much sense
hatreviews.bsky.social (@hatreviews.bsky.social) reply parent
you know the houses are gonna have electricity anyway, right

Looked like it was a thrust termination system activation, all nine engines shut down simultaneously. Simple propellant cutoff can be an acceptable FTS for liquid rockets, goal is just to make sure it hits the ground somewhere in the cleared range safety area

John Young is another fun one to read about. Instigator of the Gemini III Corned Beef Sandwich Incident. Driver of the Lunar Rover Grand Prix. Involved in not one, but two shit-related hot mic incidents on Apollo 10 and 16. First to eat moon dust, said it was “not half bad.” Guy had a blast
