We have a lot of progressive people, largely (but not solely) in urban areas, which is why Danielle works so hard to undermine civic governments in our 2 largest cities, Edmonton in particular. Separatist groups come to prominence before, but this is the 1st time a Premier has supported them, WTF?

We’ve been incredibly lucky in my part of Alberta this year, with very little smoke and regular rains, which hasn’t been our norm in recent years. We even bought a small travel trailer last spring to use if we had to evacuate. My heart hurts for the parts of the country that haven’t been so lucky.

Sometimes you can, although it took 20 years in Carleton, and even then PP got nearly 46% of the popular vote. Having lived in Camrose years ago, I’m not surprised by the outcome; however, we need to remember that not all the stupid lives in Alberta.
I remember the ascent of the Western Canada Concept Party in the early 80’s; they even managed to elect one MLA. The difference is that the Alberta PCs didn’t openly foment separatism, despite complaining (constantly) about Ottawa. Danielle Smith’s feckless self-interest endangers us all.

If you spend money on public health care, there’s less money to funnel to the UCP’s buddies in private health companies. Our health and well-being are sacrificed so Conservatives can grow their offshore accounts.
But if the hospitals are underperforming due to excessive and prolonged stress on the health care system, the UCP can “justify” contracting more private health care providers. Kinda like discouraging people from getting the COVID shot, then gutting public availability because “there wasn’t demand”.
