Too bad it won't stop their deportation. The Supreme Court seems to have given Trump a waiver he can use to ignore all constitutional protections and judicial orders.
Maybe the president's recent dearth of public appearances and the inability of the press to reach him are intentional distractions from...EPSTEIN! Isn't it now about 6 months since Pam said she'd release the files?
Because the Supreme Court has given the president carte blanche to do whatever her chooses, whether it violates the constitution or a court order. Somewhere, I'm certain someone is spinning this as, "They came here unaccompanied; their parents need to know where they are so we returned them."
Maybe it's SUCH an emergency that he can't wait for Congress. (Or has he used that excuse already? I can hardly keep up.)
Didn't we see still photos of him leaving the White House for this outing along with his granddaughter? Did she golf with him? Who drove the golf cart?
I'd bet if you asked Trump, "Of all the court orders-- and Supreme Court orders--you've defied, which was your favorite one to diss," he'd say this one.
I agree w/ you & you too, @jjdianem.bsky.social. Both ends of the consumer economy will be affected. I think CNN focused on high-end brands because premium/popular products pushed by pop culture influencers are best known & sure to get readers' attention.

I'm sure that's true for some. Though I find much to criticize in organized religion, I am Christian & have much respect for all believers of any faith who have a sincere regard for the wellbeing of fellow humans & our world.
Feeling sorry for them also because their real duty (not following orders from a power-grabbing dictator-wannabe) is a vital part of security for their communities and our nation. Sad to see them misused as a petty politician's private police force--or as his sanitation workers.

Yes, I'm familiar with both. The link would be helpful; please post it. My approach in using it would have to be less, as you say, "annoying," but the uncomfortable conversations are necessary since probably many neighbors don't even personally know a Black person.
My community is complicated in that social class & education are big factors compared w/ race bcz so few POC live here. W/ big majority white GOP, lower-middle-class/blue-collar, less educated, understanding the root of their indifference is vexing but necessary to try to change minds. How to do it?
2/2 Saw the indifference of white voters here in 2016, when in more than a few instances people came to the polls who hadn't voted in years. BTW, most white voters here are in blue collar jobs, w/ many educated professionals too. Those educated folks I see at protests.
1/2 That goes to show how my view is skewed by my community: mostly white; few Latinos in roles other than service industry or agriculture; some Asians in health care, and few Blacks, mainly in middle-class or service industry jobs, some professionals in social service, gov't jobs.

1/2 Yes & in my area many white people were taught for generations that Democrats are evil. Many seem to think this destruction of our gov't doesn't affect them and so tolerate it. They'll feel it in time. Some, especially the less educated, admire Trump for his supposed business acumen.
It does take everyone to challenge this. Nearly all of the people I see in our rural area who protest Trump's & the GOP's actions are white. But as you say, more voices are needed. I wish more of our Latino neighbors here were joining the protests, but it's probably too risky.

I don't criticize anyone who feels unsafe & leaves their country; all asylum seekers deserve a fair review. I do criticize Trump personally inviting White immigrants while deporting 1000s of nonwhites, urged on by racists saying White citizens are suffering a "great replacement" by people of color.
Remembering how Trump recently imported a group of White South Africans, I've gotta ask, will race be a factor in this review?
