Not to mention, House rulesâwritten and passed by the Republican majorityâare clear: it takes a 2/3 majority of the body to expel a member for breaking quorum. Republicans donât have the numbers for that vote.
Abbott is threatening to ask the courts that Democrats breaking quorum be removed from the legislature. Quorum rules are explicitly outlined in the Texas Constitution as a safeguard for the minority party to provide a check on the majority.

Lot of debt to dig out of. It means the party has really had to cut to bare bones, so while itâs great that theyâre paying things off, I want people to know this is a serious problem and we have a small window to help in a way that gives them enough time to put systems in place to help in 2026
This initial funding will be focused primarily on ad spends and polling which are very expensive. The goal is to put pressure on Republicans in the Texas House. But there have to be plans and commitments in place to defend seats if they go through with the new map anyway
Itâs a start, but we need a LOT of money and the Texas delegation should be getting firm commitments for money for infrastructure for the Texas Democratic Party to bring us in line with the per voter spend in other states.
It is important, it also doesnât negate that the party needs help and I donât think hiding that serves us well. And I appreciate that Kendall is open about this struggle

Again, that youâre a Canadian thatâs confused is okay. TDP is required to report to both, TEC has the most recent filing though since it had the most recent reporting deadline (7/15). Thereâs not a âbetterâ source between the two and TDP doesnât deny itâs current struggles due to previous debt
