If you think you know more than every single virologist on the planet, then please, write papers about about it and get them peer reviewed. If you can't show any evidence for your theory that made it past peer review then stfu.

For example, using a discard op in a shader can be a big optimization on a newer GPU, and have no performance impact on an older one. Virtualization will just make it run slower, and the discard op will still look like an optimization.
Virtualization doesn't account for all of the different things that can change between different hardware aside from the clock speed, so it's best to run it on the actual hardware, but you might be able to use a cloud machine or something to save money.
