Realize my reply is late, but the gist is that the court repeatedly undid the apparent will of Parliament, for better or worse. Canada is unique in that the courtâs action tended to please âthe leftâ. However, I donât at all believe it was politically motivated in the same manner as it is in the US
This is true to a large degree. However, there is a reasonable argument (that Iâm iffy on) that the most political our courts have gotten is on Charter jurisprudence, esp s. 7, in the later McLachlin years.

Our institutions are not very pro-free speech. I won't jump to the school/school board being pro-Israel as just being adverse to any type of controversy that would lead to having to deal with angry parents is far more likely, but it's depressing to see.
