I think Winterers means the people behind the Calamity of Ice, which include at least one Ascian (obviously). It'd explain why the Milalla also had a place in the storyline. I thin Calyx is part of a project to create beings similar to Ascians (being able to be reborn via technology, like him).

Continuing my reply here bc fuck X. I'm predicting Jan '27. 4 months and 2ish weeks cadence for each patch matches EW's. 9 months from 7.5 to 8.0 would match the time from 6.5 to Dawntrail, meaning late Jan. I don't think live events are a good metric, except in knowing it won't release in Oct/Nov.

Vegas is a huge venue, so it's ideal in terms of potential space. But it's just so damn hot and hotels are expensive. I am hoping for LA or Anaheim myself, but the airports suck. Midwest is a compromise, in terms of being a midway point, but the humidity! East Coast is just expeeeensive all around.
Also, thank fuck it won't be Vegas! But hopefully it also won't be on the East Coast! xD

I don't feel that way about anyone except the review bombers, when SE likely felt compelled to act to maintain plausible deniability for the UK and Mississippi age laws, and Japanese censorship laws once the dev's name and address was known to be public. Plus there are alternatives to Mare.
But maybe they'll attract the right people for projects!
When I say I don't know, I legitimately don't. They've done well channeling a sense of nostalgia with things like an 80s and early 90s feeling, and with horror in general. But they've never done substantially more than vague referential things (including with D&D) and that singular genre work?

There's some weird stuff on the Beacon Discord, such as, "Why D&D, though? You seemed to have a lot more fun with Daggerheart!" But most of it seems normal, unlike the response I saw to BLeeM being announced as C4's GM, which was... a big yikes.
The vast majority of the DH subreddit is reasonable about it. I'm not surprised, because the system is genuinely good. I don't think most of us care when it has its own AP subculture anyway. CR is also doing miniseries itself, and promoting other AP groups to put on shows using campaign frames.
Off to a good start.
I'm not the type to be as *impassioned* by these things as some. Time to see the ridiculous discourse about it, however. *Hesitantly cracks open the doors to the CR subreddit, DH subreddit and Beacon Discord.* The Rascal Discord and rational YouTubers have been reasonable, at least!
I admit I'm disappointed C4 of #CriticalRole is not using #Daggerheart. Moreso that it's going to be D&D. I don't enjoy watching D&D combat anymore. To a point where I literally cannot focus on it in any AP no matter how good the AP is. But I *am* interested in C4 being a West Marches campaign.

I don't want to put myself or others in danger. Especially with short term memory issues and the drowsiness. Even if I got the adaptations and could legally do it, it's not worth it. But those nights it takes two hours on transit just makes me miss it on occasion.
My neurologist doesn't want me to drive also. I don't know what my new one thinks, but I wholly agreed with my previous one as it is. So there's that too, lol.
My AEDs make me drowsy too. The adaptations I'd need are controls for things like the windows and driver side mirror moved to my right and a slot to secure my left foot in, so it doesn't slide under the pedals. The rest is just practicing controlling the wheel entirely with just my right hand.
I could have after 6 months of no seizures, so I had a 7-month window. But I'd need to have tested with adaptive features. And getting into and out of the car on the left side is difficult. My last seizure was also last month, and I've read too many stories about recurrent seizures while driving.
I miss being able to drive sometimes.

Of course, a subset of streamers and chronically online XIV players will perform mental gymnastics to say why it's a bad idea and act as though their opinion is an objective fact.
I feel like their idea of a solution to this is to open phoenix downs for use in story content, but that feels like such a hacky solution when they could add a tier of difficulty like story mode.
Disappointing to see successful actors choosing to support the work of a billionaire who uses her power to bully a marginalised minority. I worry for the kids that will adore the show, then look to its creator and either be horrified by her rhetoric or worse, inspired by it.
With aids that visualize lines of sight and auditory senses that simulate sense, I can see it being gamified satisfactorily. I don't even know a board game that does it well, however. I think TTRPGs with degrees of success and counters do a decent job of abstracting it at least (BitD, Daggerheart).
I full on slowly close with no yanking. I will even pull or push a door at whatever speed it squeaks the least. Then I turn the knob or push the lever so I can control or prevent the latch click. I just hate being inconsiderate of others and I don't want to have to fix a latch or hinge.

I rate it above ARR, but lower than everything else story-wise, keeping in mind I think ARR's story is okay. Both have interesting worldbuilding. I'm enjoying the alliance raid. The mechanics this wing are a big step up, but maybe I think that because it's day one. The story's cool too!
I've finished both the #FFXIV #Patch7.3 MSQ and the new alliance raid wing. It's interesting how much of a slowburn the MSQ was given that it's the finale of the main #Dawntrail arc. I overall enjoyed #Dawntrail. It was too slow in the first 6ish levels, but I think the latter 5 through 7.3 is good.

It's obviously dropping, and I don't doubt it'll plateau, just like WoW eventually did. But Bancho's data collection is not a snapshot, so we won't know until margins of error are low enough. =\
We won't know until after DT though, given that old bar data is adjusted up with each report. (EW changed drastically between its last on-content report and the first post-DT one). I don't know the math behind it. My JP is rudimentary. But all recent bars are off by a greater % than older ones.
I dunno. I have a lot of thoughts about it. Still thinking about making a video about it. WoW had a gigantic drop in numbers between Wrath and Cata too. I get the same feeling here. Both experienced a dip in story quality, IMO, but WoW suffered from its focus on empty content (dailies and weeklies).
To give you a better idea of what I mean, this is what Endwalker looked like. And it was much later in its cycle for the capstone. Soooo... It all gets a big ol' shrug from me!
By that, I mean looking at DT's updated numbers, as I assume people will go through it before or right after the next xpac, given it's sort-of-but-not-really-ARR-like nature.
Honestly, looking at the graphs, it's not a huge dropoff, and I'm surprised the first three bars are as high as they are in the updated census. The real measure will be the start of 8.0, IMO.
But like, the 3rd bar was only just over 250000 in the previous, but is now more like 275000.
This suggests some missing data collection. I'm not sure why. I don't keep up to a T, because why waste too many braincells. xD
It makes sense. Most people who would have played 7.2 by now have. But something I will say is that the numbers in the first 3 bars for DT are higher in this report than the first post-DT, meaning the stats' accuracy is delayed and the drop isn't as pronounced as it was originally reported.
