I’ve listened to more audiobooks lately — must be old age.😉 My average walking time is about 40-45 mins (~2.4 miles with 11 floors of elevation), and it goes by faster if I’m listening to a book. I used to listen to music, but it’s mostly books now.
That’ll work for me. 😋
Mmmm… I love a good homemade pecan pie! I do limit myself, though… no more than 2 slices a day. 😆
He also sells salmon bellies (rich in omega-3 fatty acids and no bones) for $2.99/lb. Easy pan fry (or air fry). It may be an Asian thing, but there’s so much meat. Plus I’ve developed the fine skill of being able to eat the salmon meat off the bones without too much trouble. Dinner for $3!

The discussion in the podcast made me think about Dr. Peter Attia’s book “Outlive: The Science and Art of Longevity”. It has some good insights on preventative medicine. I recommend it.
… i.e., no fast food since maybe last year, and no deliveries for 5+ yrs. I have consulted w/ an RDA in the past and have also taken classes in nutrition and whole foods/ plant-based eating, although I eat everything, e.g., animal proteins. I moderate ultra-processed foods, walk, and exercise.
Somehow, I missed this podcast when it first came out. It’s one of the better ones you’ve hosted, probably bc it seems so relevant to me. Having learned so much from my mom when I was just a kid, cooking in healthful ways seems natural to me. I rarely eat fast food, much less have it delivered…

A dramatic, extremely worrying moment; over 61,000 people held in ICE detention. That is the highest number ever on record in United States history; roughly 6,000 higher than the previous record set under Trump six years ago, and over 21,000 higher than when Trump took office just seven months ago.
Wouldn’t hurt (not knowing what the diagnosis was, pending testing) but won’t help. COVID is a viral infection, and antibiotics are ineffective in treating COVID. Early on in the pandemic, before treatments were found for COVID, they tested antibiotics but proved ineffective, as suspected.
Paxlovid "may" be taken again after a new/separate infection occurs (not a COV(ID "rebound"), but treatment options differ per each person... plus there are qualifications (i.e., age, underlying conditions, etc.) that the healthcare system will apply, so doctor would prescribe accordingly.
First, Paxlovid is the "go-to" antiviral treatment for COVID. For mild to moderate infections, it can mitigate/prevent escalation of infection to a more severe case. However, it must be taken within 5 days of infection for it to be effective (bc viral spread happens faster at beginning of infection)
Hope they got Paxlovid, ASAP, if this is their first infection.

When I was (4 fingers held up), Disneyland didn’t even exist. The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk amusement park opened up in 1907, and it was about 20 mins from where I lived, also in Santa Cruz County. I was 11 yrs old when a school friend’s mom invited me along on an outing there for the first time.
I hadn’t even thought about Cracker Barrel in years before this recent fuss. I’ve never been to one of their stores, nor do I recall ever seeing one. I think there’s one about 2.5 hrs from me. I won’t be visiting soon. I did find out that there are only 5 stores in all of CA.
