Yes!

Haha! Yeah, my wife has far more power than Adobe.

I'm saving fifteen pounds a month, but I don't think cancellation means I'll get my soul back.

Rising sea level is going to be pissed off when it inundates the place and finds they've already wiped themselves out with a different predictable consequence.

I cannot stress how much I don't want to spend the next four fucking years thinking we're going to end up with that batrachian mono-bollock as Prime Minister, not because his party is hugely popular but because Labour are turning out to be so stridently, dumbfoundingly shit. Give us P.R. now.

Mr. KKKipling.

No Manimal, no deal.

Well that looks like a must-see in October. Might also be of interest to anyone else in the vicinity of York with a penchant for classic supernatural yarns: www.yorktheatreroyal.co.uk/show/the-sig...
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
I really hope he has what it takes to cut through a little more in the wider North, rather than just certain enclaves of the larger cities. At the moment, the noxious stench of Reform is overpowering.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
I'll look out for it, cheers!

I’ve just learned it’s on a 4 for 3 offer at Sainsbury’s!

LUXURY!
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
Zero problem with someone having to drive if they're a couple of miles or more from their kids' school. My ire is for the sort I see 'round here driving less than 1,000 yards.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social)
I'm not sure if my disappointment and growing distaste for this government is equal to my volcanic hatred of the last one yet, but I think we're well on the way. The thing that's really surprised me is how quickly I find myself far enough down that road to need to stop for a wee.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
I don't know, I'm not a parent, but it seems to be driven at least in part by tabloid hysteria and the rise of social media. There's also the entitlement of the modern age to factor in - if one has a wanky car, one must be seen driving it as much as possible.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
There is that. Apparently there's a pervert in every bush now, meaning that parents are forced to drive their kids EVERYWHERE and park wherever they damn well please.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
I don't know if loving this stuff will prove to be a wholly generational thing, in the meantime it really lifts my spirits. I've recently started buying some of the less-regarded or sought-after old Puffin paperbacks again, before anyone else cottons on.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
I'm so glad to see them Rose, huge thanks for sharing! Clearly there were myriad factors powering the wild, expressive joy on display in so much illustration from the '50s to '70s that may never converge in the same way again, but that era should be celebrated as loudly as possible.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
I don't have kids, so I must admit I get a little jolt of happiness knowing that everywhere else gets a little quieter when they've all trudged back to the learning mill.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
It's like soul balm! Don't mind me, just enjoying a little swoon.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
No probs.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
That's actually reassuring to hear. I don't think I've ever paid MS for anything (aside from the occasional Windows licence when buying a new PC, but it's easy enough to find a cheap key reseller these days).
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
Obviously it takes a bit of adjustment to the slightly different way it does things, but it's fast, fluid and stable - and more importantly it's a one-off purchase, there's no subscription.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
I hear you mate. I hate everything being a (dis)service too.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
I've spent several years on that path mate, Affinity Photo is the way!
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
Three quid isn't an insubstantial increase in the current climate though - it's just grasping, isn't it?
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
That's what really stinks, you just KNOW it's because that shit is caning their bottom line.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
Shitteriffic!
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah, I've got AP and AD - they're both great. I'd only gone back to using PS for a year to finish a couple of specific projects anyway, so I've no hesitation in dropping Adobe again.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
I ditched it the year before last, then needed it for a brush set I was creating. That didn't really go anywhere as it turned out everyone was dropping Adobe anyway! Fortunately my one year sub is up before the price hike kicks in, so I'm off back to Affinity.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social)
Huh. Just had an e-mail from Adobe saying they're hiking the price of the most basic Photoshop sub by 50% from October. Fuck off.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
Haha! Yeah, I'll be whingeing the moment the heating and big light start going on.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
On the plus side, I think it's more weighted with promise than any other time of year . A feeling that the supernatural is closer, the thought of dark nights with fire, gloriously pummelling gales, crystalline mornings and before long (if you've been good), a stack of presents.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
Brilliant song and video. Previously I've seen people laughing at the 'robot', but as a kid I have no doubt the strangeness of it would have shit me up a bit.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
Cheers Dan. I'll still be watching, even though it seems very hollowed-out in comparison to the previous format.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
Do you know if the remaining eight episodes all centred around single acts?

Hah! Well, it had me scratching my head for a bit. Loved Mystical Ninja on the SNES.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
I had no idea Legend of the Mystical Ninja had appeared in the arcade. Was it the same game as the '91 SNES release?

It looks to be. Pretty much the same running time.

Did any of your art stuff end up living on the floor?
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
Yep. And even in the darkness last night, I could see those cheaply-made flags were taking a battering.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
Whatever your personal view of nationalist symbols, it becomes a problem when it creates a real and entirely unnecessary risk to bystanders.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social)
Driving from Doncaster to York and back via Selby last night, at least half of the motorway bridges I passed had flags attached to them. It's only going to take one of those to be torn loose and obscure a windscreen and the consequences are potentially horrific.

Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
Good point, those machinegun deliveries were quite something. I think in Carson's case I just didn't like his laugh, I found it strangely disturbing. Kids are weird.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
Six hundred and fifty quid for Frank Carson though! Some of his gags make me chuckle now, but as a kid I hated his act - clearly millions didn't.

I've just listened to this for the third time. I'm driving to York later, I'll end up playing it in the car at this rate.
Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
That one had completely passed me by - although I've only just watched the clip and I think that theme song has already taken root.

Jason Heeley (@jaseheeley.bsky.social) reply parent
The idea of interstitial telly things reminded of the Mainzelmännchen. Before BFBS began brodcasting British TV to military bases in Germany during the '70s and '80s, we could only get German and Dutch channels. These little guys used to fascinate me. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mainzel...
