The man’s as thick as mince. The US could have elected a six month old dishwashing cloth, and it would have made a better (and certainly less geo-strategically dangerous) POTUS.

Sends a message of peace by warmly welcoming a dictator who has demonstrably started an illegal war with a democratic neighbour & has caused the death & serious maiming of over a million people, including women & children? Right. He might need to try a little harder.🙄

At the end of what is looking increasingly likely to be the Chinese century, the history books will not look kindly upon Trump’s legacy. It is difficult to think of a single person who’s done as much to damage & put in peril the future of liberal democracy.

In some quarters of social media, it seems having no opinion is seen by some as having an opinion, and if your opinion by not having an opinion opposes someone else’s opinion, you are ripe for attack. 🤷♂️

Can you imagine if, for example, Connolly had been a pro-Palestinian activist, calling for the burning down of government buildings, with complete disregard of whether (perhaps even desire) those inside died? Would Farage be raising the issue with the US over free speech then? Let me guess…🙄

Those who don’t understand the Palantir business model from their well-publicised history deserve to be ripped off. They take your data, ingest it, sell it back to you with pretty visualisations, then if you want to change supplier, charge a fortune to get your own data back, creating vendor lock-in

How on earth is that a deterrent? At the first sign of trouble, they’d simply withdraw from UKR. Their motivation will be profit, & that’s never enough to risk your life for a greater cause. Defending UKR isn’t a business transaction; it’s about defending western liberal democracy from a dictator.

It’s all so mind-blowingly insane. One would think from the media that stopping tens of thousands of asylum seekers will fix the NHS, return growth to the economy, remedy the housing shortage & sort the broken infrastructure of the nation. I’m so tired of being told this is my No 1 political issue.🙄

So… if this decision is upheld by the Supreme Court, does that mean all the money accrued under this “illegal” tariff imposition (import tax) would need to be paid back? Because that sounds pretty painful for the US govt! 😣

That’s a (the) key line of communication between Pavlohrad & Pokrovs’k. Maximum support needs to be provided to the UAF from allies to stop the Russians from disrupting the defence of Pokrovs’k, which is a vital hub for the defence in the Donets’k direction.
jasonroberts3114.bsky.social (@jasonroberts3114.bsky.social) reply parent
I’m somewhat heartbroken that the Russians have managed to get into the outskirts of Pokrovs’k, & that the UAF are having to fire on Ukrainian infrastructure to rid it of the lodgement. Pokrovs’k is a key hub; here’s hoping it can be held until whatever ceasefire comes next.
jasonroberts3114.bsky.social (@jasonroberts3114.bsky.social) reply parent
Sadly I think there’s a large constituency in this nation that are pretty unmoved by that as an argument. Some of the media have done a decent long-term job of turning asylum seekers into “untermensch” in the eyes of the easily manipulated.

The fact a Reform spokesperson was allowed to use the term “fighting age males” repeatedly on R4 Today unchallenged left me flabbergasted. It was a term coined in Iraq & Afghanistan as part of the targeting consideration process. It was stopped because it pre-supposed a degree of guilt (I was there)

I suggest people read Pomerantsev’s book on the British WW2 propagandist Sefton Delmer “How to Win an Information War”. He soon learned there was no point arguing against the Nazi’s “facts”. Far better to undermine them through exposing their corruption & hypocrisy. Lesson remains just as valid now.

Unless the intention is to discredit & undermine data-driven facts so much, that everyone is reduced to having to believe their “gut instincts”, and gut instincts are informed by your perceptions through the media you consume.
