Many times I've been surprised at the interests that catch me. But I've never had much luck willfully choosing them.

Back in the early 90s when I was working on the game that became WWF WrestleMania I really tried to appreciate wrestling. The whole team did. We thought it was important. Some succeeded, or seemed to, more than others. I tried hard but never really got there.

Normie lib here. He's a soulless, calculating, third-way asshole and always has been. I don't trust him and I don't trust his instincts. But he's taking it to DT, and that counts for a lot. Contrast him with, say, Adam Schiff, a serial disappointment who never delivers.

The people I know who will drink the stuff don't exactly claim to "like" it. It's complicated. They sort of enjoy how awful it is, but that's not quite the same thing as liking it? If that makes any sense?

This raises the question of what exactly it means to 'read' the assignment. When the trap prompt is between lines and in white text, it's clearly intended to be read by machines and to go unnoticed by a human reader. It may be reasonable to expect a human who discovers such text to disregard it.

"our policies have to follow the polls" always reminds me of the trap of letting the focus group design your game. They can tell you what isn't working for them, but they can't steer you to anything worthwhile and new. If you let the polls lead you, you'll make the Homermobile.

Long time fan. But this makes me wonder who you think your audience is.

I really wanted to like it? But I found it overbroad and often clumsy, with an off-putting "very special episode" vibe. If you pander to people too shamelessly, I think they start to feel like they're being mocked.

Oh shit. Sounds like he's found a winning message. We're in for it now.

Oh hey, I get it. If you call you new taxes "reciprocal" tariffs, then nobody will be able to retaliate with import taxes or their own. That's clever.

My God I loved that show. It could be difficult to love. The key, I think, is that you had to figure out--early on--that the big reveal was never coming and that the story was about how people dealt with the strangeness, rather than the nature of the strangeness itself. That maybe wasn't easy.

Rallying the public to your cause is an essential part of the job. "Part," I said.

I'm happy to see it. Well done, Senator Schiff, and thank you. I'm looking forward to lots more such trouble. Keep at them.

I'm blown away. I couldn't have done that when I was half his age.

I'm not sure I remember that. But I do remember him writing like a Dollar Store Hunter S. Thompson and thinking that he might become an interesting writer if he kept working at it. Instead, we got this. Feh.

Save these. Three years from now it's gonna be hilarious that anyone thought this guy would be sufficiently healthy, popular, and politically strong to consider a fourth attempt.

Without opening the envelope I'm going to guess that this is primarily about the 14th amendment.

Oh jeez. I wonder what'll happen if a party pushes all-in on a broadly unpopular nominee who clearly doesn't have four years of gas left in the tank.
