I think that's one of the great deceptions of e bike marketing - ie heavier equals better workout. All that will happen is that you will go slower and your HR will drop. Ergo less power ergo less effective workout. Better off buying lightweight aero bike with light wheels for climbing.

And in the office it normally ends at 1pm with a trip to the boozer. The sensible approach surely is to look at overall productivity and worker wellbeing.

I'd go back to 1649 and the Civil war.

@sianberry.bsky.social we don't have the land for American style towns and cities: we need to build apartment blocks as they do on the continent and infill low density new towns like Milton Keynes.

And then they wonder why people don't cycle...

Somebody needs to check where Kuessenerg has her wealth invested and where her other income comes from.

They've been a constant visual and aural backdrop here in wiltshire this summer, delighting and mesmerising with their aerobatic caperings. Yesterday, they had a feast on flying ant day, screaming with delight at the pickings!

Who knew foxes were druids?

Does this mean the BBC will be pulling anti green and anti active travel points of view in the interests of balance?

Quite happy though to give Farage and his cronies carte blanche to spout unchecked whatever bilge they come up with

George you have to realise that the vast majority of Britain did not vote Labour at the last election precisely because what we have now was always on the cards.

BBC seemingly quite happy to stoke enmity between motorists and cyclists with reporting of "war on the roads" etc. Nothing controversial there of course!

Donald where's your troosers?
John Bennett (@jaybee27.bsky.social) reply parent
Honestly Guy you're wasting your breath. No one who follows you is likely to be a Farage supporter and anyone who does is unlikely to be influenced by reason.

With life expectancy ever increasing the only method of limiting population growth is enforcing birth control globally. Without any natural predators and with wars and pandemics unable to make more than a dent on population there is no other method.

It's ironic how governments and politicians are happy to interfere in many aspects of human lives but no one is willing to address the single biggest cause of food insecurity and carbon emissions: viz global overpopulation. To contextualise: Human population has gone from 1bn in 1800 to 8bn in 2025.

As a species we have presided over the destruction of nature, leaving animals like the fox no option but to seek their food by scavenging in our cities. I think we owe them something in return don't you?
John Bennett (@jaybee27.bsky.social) reply parent
Let's be clear: the domestic cat kills far more songbirds than the fox so there is a strong counter argument that the fox is performing a public service. We need to live alongside our fellow creatures and stop trying to play God. They have as much right to exist their foxy life as you and i.
John Bennett (@jaybee27.bsky.social) reply parent
Fox is neither ghastly, hateful, nor ugly; neither commonplace, unmeaning, nor tame.

Let Musk and Farage carry on. They're doing a fantastic job at writing their own death knell!

There should be a cap on tax breaks: a max of £10k per person.
John Bennett (@jaybee27.bsky.social) reply parent
I wouldn't waste your time worrying about a non entity like Farage. You're just feeding the troll by giving him free airtime.
John Bennett (@jaybee27.bsky.social) reply parent
To be honest, George, the language Owen uses is somewhat intemperate and rather undermines his argument. It smacks of someone nursing a grudge rather than reasoned dialectic. Sadly there has been a decline in journalistic standards as well as political debate in the last 30 years.
