I’ve always had mixed feelings about Labor Day. When I was a kid it was the end of summer at the cottage with school starting the next day. As an adult, it was great to be off from work but sadly meant the end of summer and a soon close to baseball season. Hope everyone had a wonderful day!

A very happy 80th birthday to the magnificent violinist Itzhak Perlman. He recorded extensively for HMV/EMI, so his relationship with Previn blossomed extensively. But there were other interesting associations, too. What are your favourite Perlman recordings?

Continuing, those Karajan fans need to traverse his recordings of Richard Strauss and Anton Bruckner. Also his Beethoven symphonies recorded in the 1960s are his best. Sorry for the rant!!
