The Constitution and Bill of Rights are meant to protect our freedoms. But what good are those rights if the government can violate them now, and youâre forced to wait months or years for your day in court?
The Supreme Court, once a safeguard, now appears more interested in protecting power than limiting it. The balance our system depends on is fading fast.
Executive orders are flooding in. Constitutional rights are being disregarded. Political appointees are enabling the president to act without consequences.
Power was meant to be divided between three coequal branches: legislative, executive, and judicial. Each was meant to check the others. That system is now being undermined.
But today, that balance is disappearing. The current administration is stripping away those reserved powers and expanding executive authority far beyond its intended limits.
The Framers designed a system that protected individual liberties while granting only specific powers to the federal government. All other powers were reserved for the states and the people.
The American government was never meant to be more powerful than its citizens. The Constitution was written to establish limited government, with checks and balances to prevent any one branch or person from becoming too powerful.
Our government was meant to be limited, with power in the hands of the people. Instead, it has become something it was never intended to be: an unchecked force with growing authority, eroding the checks and balances that once protected us.
Perhaps we should remove the free health care for senators and representatives. Maybe that will help with the budget.
