Huh. I'm only blocked by 33 accounts, on 3 lists that I can see (though clearsky says there are 4?) and all 3 of those are positive and folks I've known for some time pre-bsky and enjoy interacting with and aren't part of any starter packs. That's all comforting to know.

I have a great deal of fondness for this movie, despite the fact that I don't recall ever having watched it a second time, because it was one of the earliest movies I can recall going to see in the cinema with my grandfather. And he passed away after a long illness when I was only nine.

As an aside, the door was closed because Aussie Summer and the AC barely worked enough to be coolish *if* it was kept shut 90+% of the time, and pretty horrible otherwise. Airflow in that little arcade underneath a cinema was non-existent, likely because it was L-shaped rather than a straight line.
I rather doubt they would have bought anything that day even before the recalcitrant door (and my clearly insufficient attempted assistance) infuriated them, and I'm certain they wouldn't have after it happened, if only out of embarrassment.
Then they turned and walked away, back down that featureless arcade and were never seen again. I still ponder how it was they repeatedly tried all the wrong ways yet never tried the actual way it opened. Even with all the assistance available. We all have our bad days, gods know I do. And yet.
They glared angrily at me through the glass, and I pointed in the direction that it opened, then slid my hand in that direction as well. Glared at me, my hand, the door, off down the doorless arcade they'd just walked up, glared angrily back at me before trying all the wrong directions. Again.
One day, someone walked up to it, grabbed the large U-shaped handle and tried to open the door by moving it in every direction than the one it actually moved in. (Or vertical, now that I think of it.) INCLUDING trying to slide the handle and their hand *into the bulky and blatant frame itself*.
It was a sliding glass door. And I had placed a sheet of paper on the inside, right next to the large external handle (and the door frame). In large, bold font was printed "Door slides to open" or such. And had an arrow pointing away from the frame. It was highlighted in multiple (2-3?) colours.
Sadly I didn't take a picture (this was back in either the end of '99 or the start of 2000), but I once had someone fail to manage to open the door to the bookstore I was working in at the time.
And also: Those who live by the sword (imposing violence onto others), will die by the sword (someone will very likely impose fatal violence on them). Sooner would be vastly preferable in both of these cases. Soonest better still.
Even should that extremely unlikely possibility actually come to pass, I can guarantee neither of them will actually get to live forever, or likely even more than a couple of extra decades, at best. "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible make violent revolution inevitable."
