This movie spoke to me in a way no movie ever has nor do I expect one ever will again. The right views disinformation as an investment. The MSM does not view news as a public good…and even if they did, their shareholders don’t. This asymmetry is a critical weakness in an open society where free speech is ostensibly guaranteed.
If we want elections to stop being existential, we need a shared reality. Otherwise, nothing the non-right ever does will ever be allowed to register, let alone be seen as truth. And that’s a dealbreaker for conservatives b/c fact based reality is incompatible with their belief system.
The strategy is this: destroy the conservative disinformation machine. We are where we are thanks to a 50 year project by the right of redefining reality to suit their interests and we underestimated both their drive and effectiveness at nearly every step.
