Did a panel today about why people still like INVADER ZIM after all this time despite it being a known fact the show causes mental deformities and almost always gives viewers ‘stupid eyes.’ Pretty good turnout and the lights made it easier to ignore their hideous eyes.

It’s not a hard rule though. I’ve eaten up every book in the Dennis E. Taylor’s Bobiverse series and had a great time the whole way through.

Earlier this year I read Blindsight and then Echopraxia, and there was definitely entertainment there, but also the kind of creeping, unsettling philosophy that feels like it speaks to the parts of you you’ll never really understand but are nonetheless in there, coolly observing you from inside.
I enjoy fun space opera stuff but mostly for watching - movies or television, but I’m never drawn to that sort of thing when it comes to reading. It’s always more interesting when there’s a purpose beyond just entertainment, stories that leave a mark long after I’m done with the book.

Recent nonfiction books I have absorbed: ‘Strongmen: Mussolini to the Present’, ‘The Great Mortality’ and ‘Men Who Hate Women’. Authoritarian leaders, the black plague and incels.
I actually stopped the episode mid twang sequence to truly brace myself for whatever else was coming up to make me somehow even more sad.
Now I LOVE the original ALIEN movie, but it’s not perfect (unlike the ORGANISM itself. HAHAHA!) and something that always bothered me was its lack of a twangy guitar solo. Thanks for finally giving me that, ALIEN EARTH.
When did every “scary” supernatural being in horror movies have to be so crunchy? Every hand movement, every head turn is always accompanied by so many crunchy tendon/bone sounds. I’ve been present for several real life mummies coming to life and even they weren’t THAT crunchy.
I just ravenously ate a bunch of raspberries off of the floor like a goblin. Call me, ladies.
That's just it! Sure, Paul Williams singing and playing the piano on The Love Boat is great, but then there's the Xenomorph, dancing and clapping behind him, trying to hide the pain in his not eyes, remembering when he was the focus of the scene in another life on a much bigger screen.
Yeah but he was still getting like 20 mil per picture, he just needed one decent hit to stay on top but he kept picking the shittiest scripts and now look at him. It's prestige sci-fi, sure, but he's not even the focus anymore, more like just one more special guest on The Love Boat.
Oh for sure it was as weird as seeing Darth Vader doing tv shows. Compare anything from the original Star Wars with this shot from Obi Wan.
Watched an interview with the Xenomorph where they ask him how he feels being PART of a cast with other alien species, like does it make him feel less special, and it made me sad like when they teamed Wesley Snipes up with OTHER blades.
I don't like that even the Xenomorph, one of my favorite film actors, is reduced to guest starring on a tv show now. #alien #xenomorph #gueststarring

I don’t really need new anything from ALIEN . It’s been a LOT of diminishing returns and I’m not the kind of fan that’s just waiting for callbacks to clap at. It’d be cool to see something respectable again though if they haven’t keep making more and more.

What’s the next classic game series they’ll mash a parry mechanic into? Parrying a ghost in Pac Man would be pretty satisfying - a well timed button press initiating a zoom in on Blinky’s horrified eyes as Pac Man deftly slices his blade across ghost-throat meat.
I’ll look into them. I had only ever gotten razer accessories before and had no issues with them. Definitely not thrilled at the thought of any more laptops from them.
