She is a great action heroine & she delivers the goods here. If I remember correctly from DVD extras, the director said she was so good in one sequence that they added more stunts to it (fight in stairwell?). Wish the story was better, had to deviate from the source material

It's mostly where the Hitchcock references are so blatant. It's like he's winking & saying see what I did there. Not an issue in films like Blow Out or Casualties of War (which not enough people appreciate because it is so grim)
I teased a friend who recommended it, saying he liked it for the bathroom sex scene. After seeing it, I thought it was a smart, engaging movie without wearing its cleverness on its sleeve. My problem with a lot of De Palma films is that I see the thought process & can't lose myself in the film.
Pain & Glory from the Almodovar films and De Palma's Femme Fatale from the action films (a dark horse I know) & could throw in Miami Rhapsody (the best Woody Allen film that Woody Allen didn't make) from his comedies
Not a huge fan of Key Largo but I would have added to the list Moulin Rouge, which shows quite a different side of Huston from the Bogart films and is beautifully made

The major problem with the musical Nick & Nora was its plot involved them breaking up & getting a divorce, something that would never happen. I knew the book writer Arthur Laurents (West Side Story, Gypsy) didn't understand the characters when I first read that he wanted to get rid of Asta.
