We genuinely I think need to evolve a kind of quasi official public party spokesman, or top party representative position, when we don’t occupy the White House, so we don’t keep trying to put it on people whose job it really isn’t.

Even if you accept the premise of not caring about laws and courts, you have to actually describe how you would direct the personnel responsible for administering these things to comply and produce these items. (Loans/weed doable, but attempting to wishcast M4A just makes you look stupid.)

I don't necessarily expect the average journalist to be able to adjudicate expert claims, but is it a crazy idea for us to demand newsrooms employ some sort of in-house technical judges and speak authoritatively? I think a relatively small team could evaluate claims across most disciplines

pizza is hotdog. calzone is burrito. Lasagna is sandwich.
bubba (@jortscity.bsky.social)
the difference between a taco/hotdog, burrito, and sandwich is the topology of bread. A sandwich has 2 independent slices of bread. A taco and hotdog have one piece of bread, which is partially open. A burrito is a taco but closed. A corndog is a burrito.

As Policy Understanders™ we apply this [insert word] policy in multiple areas. Housing is the main one though.
bubba (@jortscity.bsky.social) reply parent
It's also not the same thing as "means-tested" vs "universal" although there is some overlap. "Means-tested" is going to refer to the specific policy that we in fact means test to support the needy, but it doesn't carry the meaning of the other policy we pursue for everyone else.
bubba (@jortscity.bsky.social) reply parent
"necessary but insufficient" is not /wrong/ but it's, well, insufficient for speaking about the actual shape of policy intentions. doesn't carry enough embedded meaning.
bubba (@jortscity.bsky.social)
