They really aren't hard. They bloom on old wood so if you prune it much you'll lose your blooms. Also, it needs to be covered if you have very cold temps or the buds that are set for the coming spring will freeze. Otherwise, they just need water and a little fertilizer in the spring! Good luck!

Saved 11 monarch caterpillars this year! 8 females/3 males. All gorgeous. All they left behind were their empty chrysalises! I helped the last three out of the enclosure this morning and each one sat on my finger for a few minutes before taking flight. One of Mother Nature's BEST events!!

I saved 4 monarch caterpillars who are now heading into their final stage (chrysalis) and will become butterflies in a few weeks. They are in a mesh container with their milkweed plants where they are safe until they're ready to fly! Lucky me to share an important part of their lives!!
